Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

I don't mind the siren either, but it definitely is getting diminishing returns these days

We should have kept it as a special thing, but alas people insisted we have it for all games

TBH, I don’t like the idea of the siren being a special thing. How would “special” be defined? Wouldn’t that involve sending a message to certain teams that they are special?

The Duncan tune (as much as I love the fella) should have been a testimonial only thing & should never be repeated.

Intrigued to see how he gets on this weekend.

If we can somehow get a result and performance in a tough away fixture, we have to start considering him for the role.

I think too much emphasis has been put on playing out from the back and tactical possession.

The RS play the most basic tactic of going front to back as quickly as possible and are romping the league.

Another thing is I wouldn't want to not give my all if Big Dunc was waiting to question my effort. Or ask for a transfer!

He has an air of authority and impossing quality. Combine that with his 100% commitment and passion and it becomes quite infectious.

I desperately want him to succeed.

My thoughts exactly ....I'm just not very good at expressing them ...

I dont think thats true, i just think it winds the crowd up a little more, but totally agree save it for the Derby alone would be great. The very first time i heard it at Bellews fight i was covered head to toe in goosebumps.

I posted this in the next manager thread, but it is probably more appropriate for this thread.

After much thinking my dream appointment would be a Arteta/Ferguson double act. We need the players to understand what it means to pull that royal blue jersey on and what is expected of them, and if they don't then they can leave.. I don't want another fancy dan manager who really doesn't give a toss as long as his bank balance is being topped up. We've just had 4 of them on the bounce and it hasn't worked. We can't get a Pep or a Klopp.

Our club is all about heart, passion, 100% die for the shirt. Nothing less will do. I was reminded of this after watching Howards Way, and yeah, I was a 13 year old kid in the Lower Gwladys on that night against Bayern.

It is time to put an Everton man in charge.

Not sure a player who handed in a transfer request on deadline day would really fire up that 100% die for the shirt passion.

Nothing against Arteta, but if that's the attitude you want your coaches to inspire, that one might be wide of the mark.

100% agree.

I agree with this but I don't understand a couple of things - does anyone know the answers? \
1) How has he survived 4 managers' sackings and is retained as a Coach / Assistant ?
2) Why was he not caretaker before, and why is he never seriously considered? Why is Unsworth not considered? Does this mean that our Everton old boys behind the scenes are really just there for sentimental reasons or we are doing them a favour?

Heard a rumour that when he was bankrupt Kenwright helped him out with a job. Same like with Jeffers and Baxter recently

I am a big fan of big dunc, but really wonder if he's got anything special about him why is he never considered. And if he's got all this motivational power, and the players seem to love him, is he not allowed to express himself as a coach and motivator?

I reckon he must have bottled the chance of remaining interim manager until the end of the season if we are actually going to get Moyes instead!

Nice little piece i learnt today, this watch he's wearing here? It's Howard Kendalls. A gift from his wife.

Reading Dunc's wiki page I saw this line..

'Ferguson was accused of racial abuse by Fulham's Luís Boa Morte after an FA Cup fourth round match in January 2004. The accusation was dismissed by the Football Association, who found insufficient evidence.'

Never heard that one before! Dismissed by the FA. I wonder if there were any issues between the two when Boa Morte was hired?
