Richarlison has 33 goals for us. In 3 seasons. It will take gray 10 seasons to get that many

We have so few goals in the team or goal threat. Maybe only DCL and Richie can realistically be expected to get over ten goals this season. When goals are that hard to come by, you don’t take that out the team. How about looking at the midfielders and attackers who neither score nor create. We’ve got far too many in that category and that’s where the problem is.

Gray 133 prem league games in total, 10 goals, Richarlison last season, 34 prem games, scored 7 goals and he didn't have a great season.

I don’t think that’s the case, as always it’s about balance. He can easily play on the left in a 4231 and chipping in with between 10-15 goals a season is really important. He isn’t the most creative, best passer, etc but he’s the goal threat - you need that, you don’t take it out the team. Our problem has been zero similar input in terms of either goals or assists from the position behind the striker or the right wing.

We don't need to talk about most and best because he's closer to least and worst in these areas.

Most, best, least, worst… ultimately he can’t only play up top, can he. He can play off the left in a 4231 and contribute between 10-15 goals from that position. In a team with no goals, that’s invaluable.

he can play just fine in a front three - he does it for Brazil and his best form for us last season came in that front three.

But our managers all just simply have to play 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2 that doesn't work, don't they

He will be playing left in the 4-2-3-1 I imagine. If his task is to cut infield and that allows Digne to push up, that's fine. But we need a midfielder who can hold onto the ball and find the passes to allow that. We want to get rid of the only one we have on the books capable of it, handily.

Agreed. I think he could play left, right or through the middle. Only 21 so can adapt to a new role id hope.

Not a big name, exciting signing or someone who Id expect to light up the league...but someone who improves the squad, is young and has solid premier league experience.

Id get him for the right price (ideally with a player swap included) and keep in mind that he'd be a rotation option in a year or two once we bring in a starter.

Certainly a far superior player than Townsend and Gray.

Genuinely jaw dropping, gobsmacked, flabbergasted doesn’t even begin.

Not that Richie was great last season, he wasn’t but even then he managed 7 league goals (3 more than gray has managed in his best ever prem league season). The other two seasons for us he’s got 13 league goals, roughly goal every 2 1/2 game player for us. And on the back of two preseason friendlies you’re quite happy to say that Gray and he are interchangeable.

Now, although it was a wind up, what is NOT a wind up is my dislike for Richarlison, who I think is garbage.
