Confirmed Signing Dwight McNeil

Not a body language expert, but look at this clip. Lampard asks him if he is happy and he immediately folds his arms and looks defensive.. Seems he isn't really that happy to me. Perhaps we shafted him in the negotiations, or perhaps I am reading too much into it? He's a good player though...

Quite possibly and the 3 at the back could help with thaf being the current England setup.

Gordon and McNeil are going to be very effective.

Of all the positions he played...he was mostly at CF.

Cornet (like Dennis) was mainly up top. Very different to McNeil and nowhere close to as good a player.

In France hes not considered to be a 'top' player by any stretch. Average at best.

Im more inclined to believe Burnley fans who say McNeil is one of their best ever players and Cornet was found out 2nd half of the season.
That's funny because I've been seeing Burnley fans delighted they got what we paid and saying he's been crap for 18 months and Cornet was much, much better.

I have it on good authority that Frank frequently greets new players with nipple twisters. Mcneill, who's done his research, counters with a 'zonal teat' arm cross technique and snuffs out the danger

Is he prepared, however, for contract dave's atomic wedgie? He'll need a low block for that one

Some quotes from Burnley supporters

You'll get lots of different answers depending who you speak to, but you're right, he's had a poor 18 months.

He's very one footed, with an excellent cross and ridiculous close control - so I think he's mostly best either on the left if you want to use him as a traditional winger, beating his man and pinging a range of crosses in. Or on the right, if you want to have him cutting in and acting as a more direct threat. He's got a great range of passing on him too.

Don't think he'd do much use in the middle of the park as his one-footedness is more of a weakness there.

We all wanted him to stay generally, I thought he'd really kick on in a lower league and under Kompany's more progressive tactics (he was partly at fault for his poor output, but Dyches tactics didn't help), but this fee is far too good to turn down. He could be worth it, but you'll need to get his all-time-low confidence back up, if you manage to unlock his potential then he could be fantastic.

That’s honestly hilarious. I didn’t think he’d have a chance to sell after the lazy season he played

I’d much rather keep cornet over McNeil I spit of how fragile he js

Cornet seems to require the entire 17.5 million upfront whereas McNeil doesn't is the reason I've seen given.

I like McNeil, but if it means we're more likely to keep Cornet I'd happily accept this. Though I still think both will leave by the end of the window.

Got to agree with everyone here, this feels like a bad move. When it gets tough his head drops and was a liability at times last season because of it. He kept his place largely because we had nothing on the bench. Going to Everton he’ll have so much more competition and will not get as many second chances.

Everton fans turned real quick on Keane on a few bad moments and have to think they would do the same.

Thought we could of had a good time in the championship to build his confidence now he’s jumping back in at the deep end. But I wish him all the best

Two seasons ago I'd have been sad

Today I'm thankful Everton doesn't realise he's s*** now

If he and his agent came in expecting the same 5 year, 80-100k a week deal with a massive signing on fee we’ve offered in previous years then I’m pleased he’s a little disappointed.

The reality is that we (or people working for us) will have spoken to his agent long before we made contact with Burnley. Technically illegal I know, but every club does it.

We’ll have been well aware of the wages/length of contract he wanted before the last 24 hours. Whatever McNeil is on a week, I’m sure he won’t starve. In 5 years time he’ll never have to work another day in his life. He might already be financially set up.

Im pleasantly optimistic about this one. Not watch a great deal of him, but I think he’ll do well in a more attacking set up.

As for the body language. Maybe he folded his arms because he wants to look strong, focussed and serious! Determined to bag loads of goals and assists for the famous blues from Merseyside!
