I bow to Lampard and Thelwell 's superior knowledge, but, I just don't see this lad as anything more than a squad filler, he didn't impress me when he was at Burnley and, up to now, hasn't here. He can undoubtedly strike the ball well and will score the odd screamer, but, for the fee we paid on our limited budget, I just don't see it. I hope he proves me wrong.

People always say this and it never happens. Crap players usually just stay crap.
Iwobi is going to be the new 'United gave Alex Ferguson time in 1986 so we should ignore the fact we only have 1 point from our last 17 games and just see if this manager can win us a Champions League one day too'. One player who has improved (to a level where we'd get back what we paid, not a lot more) and we're destined to hear it as a warning for every absolute dud we have for the next 30 years.

McNeil has even disappointed me so far and I had very low expectations.

Need to give him 2 years to settle, look how long it took Iwobi.

I think he will be / is a decent squad option to have - especially if he can play a few different positions...

The problem is that he was our main attacking signing along with Maupay to replace Richarlison and it's clear he just doesn't add enough attacking threat/numbers for what we need. If we had signed kudus then he might be seen differently as a useful option.

It's clearly going to be a season of tight games, hopefully, we can get on the right side of the scoreline enough (such as west ham/soton) to keep us out of trouble but it's a huge gamble. I saw a stat yest that Fulham have scored 11 goals in the second half of games...we can't go on scoring 8 goals in every ten. Hoping we can pick up wins before world cup and make a couple of clever additions in Jan.

I mean surely Iwobi is an example of not writing someone off in an Everton shirt straight away?

If I ever see an encouraging sign from McNeil I’ll be open to changing my mind about him. Running around and being a second full back doesn’t do it for me though.
