2022/23 Dwight McNeil

The most appalling thing for me was the last week of that summer window: the BS stories that Everton were looking to bring in another striker. A complete fabrication. Now we pay for it.

…good work done in central defence and central midfield but a massive mistake not bringing in an effective striker before the season started (or at least before the window closed).

it has to be addressed in January. I hope a potent attacking wide player and a central striker.

It's not his fault, as he didn't ask to be bought, but when I see him I see one of the main reasons we're completely 'kin gummy in attack. Spending £20M on a player who's very limited - to put it politely - which was cash that could have been used to bring a goal scorer in.

How in earth did someone think that he was a priority?

We'll now hope that the club can rectify that catastrophic error by getting lucky in January with a striker who can put the ball away.
Perhaps he did ask to be bought. Surely if playing for EFC in the Prem (not having to move house etc) was not his interest he'd have simply rejected the move, no?

As for someone being willing to sell us their goal-scoring striker half way through the season for whatever little we have left in the transfer budget, I wont be holding my breath on that one.

Honestly think we went for Cornet and came back with McNeill.

I suspect Burnley wouldn’t do instalments for Cornet, but would for McNeill.

….naturally left sided and we don’t have enough left footers, he’s a squad member and we need squad players. McNeil is here and Lampard won’t be looking to move him on.

January is about enhancing our attacking options.
What I saw Saturday was not a naturally left sided player

Then we'll be relegated, because teams that dont score go down.
