2022/23 Dwight McNeil

Exactly, he's neat and tidy rather than occasional bits of magic.

In our current predicament I'd honestly rather a team of McNeils than a team of Gordons and Gray's, both of whom have been poor for the majority of games.

At the moment mate, i think all three lack the leadership and to be honest spirit, that Richarlison had - we are missing that hugely none of them are taking the innititive, I think Gordon has it in him, but hes in a bad patch of form. Its really only Iwobi who is showing real leadership and initiative up there.

We really miss Richarllison. DCL, Gordon, Gray and McNeill are just unreliable up there for different reasons, i just dont know where goals and chances will come from.

We look slow, predictable and easy to work out.

Any manager worth his salt will keeep us out.

Well, yeah.

But they're the 3 current wide-mid/forward options we have. McNeil the most reliable of the three for me, even if it's a little uninspiring.

That's what we get for having no over riding recruitment strategy for the past 7/8 years.

I have big faith in young Anthony mate, i know you might not share that opinion and d take on board hes in period of bad form.

If you look at the last three of four windows we have taken alot of inntitive and creativity out of the team in a short space of time and we are experiencing the impact of that now.

Richarlison, Gylfi, Digne, Jamo, Bernard maybe even the options of the likes of Kean and Walcott and of course the fitness of DCL and Townsend its a lot attacking initiative and creativity to take out of a side, without really meaningfully replacing it. Whatever peoples feeling on Gomes and Alli too.

What do you think he’d do on the right, just out of interest? Cut inside and shoot, maybe get a few goals? He might be more inclined to link up with an overlapping Paterson, I suppose - Gordon or Gray seem incapable of clever link up play, just get their heads down and run.

On the other hand, he’s got no history as a goal scorer, his record is atrocious, players either have that goal scoring instinct or they don’t- not many suddenly develop into 10/15 a season players from nowhere. Am dubious playing him on the right will see him scoring much.

His whole thing has been playing on the left and to get crosses in - other than last season, he’s had 5,6,5 assists doing that in previous seasons. Problem is we don’t have enough players getting in the box to get in the end of a cross or anyone with great heading ability for him to aim at (except Dominic Calvert-Lewin and they rarely play together). All in all kind of nullifies him a bit. A really odd choice to bring in when we’d lost the goals and match winning ability of Richarlison. Just what we could get for little money upfront I guess.
The first paragraph is what I'd hope for yeah. Otherwise you just don't really have anything.

He might have scored a cracking goal against a tired and already defeated Crystal Palace, but this guy is truly cack. An abysmal signing worthy of representing us after our relegation in a 6 months time.

A real big problem is that we're playing the same formation week in week out, regardless of personnel or form.

This means, with us having three Vanorama League level wingers, one will be dropped after yet another stinking performance, while another who played just as bad will be starting the next game, guaranteed. The third of the stinkers will ultimately come on as a sub, do nothing, but know he's starting the next game. And it's just rinse and repeat.

Against Bournemouth on Tuesday it will be McNeil and Gordon, then at the weekend Gordon and Gray.

In both games, Maupay will start and be completely isolated and we'll have zero goal threat. Surprised if we even get a point at the weekend as we allow every team that plays against us to have about 15 shots a have minimum.

Absolutely disastrous. I'm predicting out of the cup, lose at the weekend and go into 2023 in 17th place, 1 point ahead of Forest and 2 ahead of Southampton.

I do hope this "but we're not in the bottom 3 despite having had no striker for most games" won't lead us to have a false sense of security. A striker and winger should be lined up already and set to join first week of January.

I agree 100% and we’re going to lose against the cherries. I firmly believe this.
Lampard played Russian roulette and the bullet stung him.
These trash attackers have a guaranteed start week in week out

If his skill set is so limited, might as well learn to win free kick, not a difficult task considering his small frame.

At least learn to dive and drop like a fly at the slightest touch.

Ive seen about 6 of your posts one after another in different threads all slating the fans, manager and players.

Do yourself a favour and go to bed. Perhaps wake up and be positive about something ffs.

I’d actually like to see him deeper maybe in midfield where Onana was playing against Leicester if we play that formation. Looks to be more useful than hugging the touchline.

A lot of managers would change the system instead of playing the same style week after week, and I admit he hasn’t got enough decent players up front but why play two wingers every game, and especially now with DCL missing, Onana being not fit will help the team tonight, he has been a passenger for most game.

He needs to be playing tucked in off the right for me with Patterson behind him offering energy up and down. I think you lose any threat he has by sticking him on the left.

That could work as well. The current set up of the two wingers we have infront of Coleman and Mykolenko just isn’t working.
