2022/23 Dwight McNeil

Not that he was particularly poor or anything, but it's staggering how weak he is.

Whenever he tries one of those meandering runs from right to left, you just know he's going to get knocked off the ball by somebody who isn't even much of a physical presence himself (today it was Odegaard).

He probably was our best player yesterday but I don't like the way everything seems to go through him now as he is nowhere near good enough to play like that.

Only one willing do it 2 or 3 others should be running on looking for the pass, we constantly let down by Maupay and Iwobi.

Iwobi should be playing in the middle and Gray should also be playing. He could make that team more attacking if he wanted, let's be honest he has nothing to lose at this point but it's Dyche and it's always going to be safety first.

Looking to McNeil for goals and creativity is a sure sign relegation is on the cards. I agree he was our best player but that's a huge problem because it highlights how poor we are.

He's been the best of a very bad bunch for the past couple of games, he still shouldn't have been signed though, having McNeill is not going to be the thing that keeps us up. McNeill and Maupay may very well be decent squad players, provided of course that they are played in the correct roles, but, neither of them have improved the first 11 and we were not in the position to be spending 25 million or so on players who would not markedly improve the first team. It's been apparent for a long while that Calvert Lewin is not going to play too many games and that he was the only player we have on the books, once we sold Richarlison, capable of playing centre forward.

The two transfer windows this season were anything but successful as the overwhelming need was for adequate cover for Calvert Lewin, it is the failure of Thelwell and the board to bring in such a player, whether on loan or permanently, capable of going what Calvert Lewin does for the shape of the team, that will probably relegate us. Lack of funds is no excuse, the money spent on Maupay and McNeill should have been used to bring in a centre forward, not a world beater, but, a competent hold up player who was capable of scoring the odd goal.

It's because he's so one footed. He's always leaning towards his left.

Often felt like this with Gordon.

Issue is it becomes almost inevitable when you've got Iwobi and co.

No one else really wants the ball do they? That's why I had a degree of sympathy with Gordon. If him or Gray didn't beat a couple of men and put it in the top corner there wasn't much else on.

Overlapping full backs, good passers of the ball in midfield, a pacy forward who makes good runs... We have none of those things.
