Cutting out that ball at the far post in the first half saved a goal, fantastic work. He’s putting in a real shift.
Going forward there’s got to be more movement off the ball for him - too many times him and Iwobi on the other side pick the ball up and nobody’s moving, makes it so easy for the defenders and so much more difficult for the wide men as they’re easily crowded out.

Top player, great find, well scouted

Pienaar could combine because his strong foot was inside. McNeil could do this potentially as well... on the right.Pienaar says hello

Obviously that isn't everything but it is also very important that Pienaar wasn't trying to go down the wing and cross exactly the same as Baines was.I mean it’s just not that simple whatsoever. If it was then we could put Mason Holgate on the left wing and he’d be able to combine. Pienaar’s intelligence and ability to control the ball and manoeuvre in tight spaces are the reason he was able to compliment Baines, not the fact he was right footed. It was like Pienaar had eyes in the back of his head sometimes, he knew where Baines was at any given moment. McNeil doesn’t possess the skills that Pienaar had, he’s nothing like the same type of player.

Fwiw I didn't bring up Pienaar and don't see that comparison either.

Hidden in plain sightTop scouting finding a player with 100 premier league games under his belt, wonder how they discovered such an unknown
