It is kind of interesting that we rarely see MotM performances out of him AND Iwobi in the same game. It is perhaps a positional thing for both, I'd like to see Iwobi more central and him on the right However that is only achievable if there is a very strond DM(s) behind them and an actual striker in front..

I’ve said it since he was signed, feel free to go back and check, but this lad has something. He’s a hard worker and can create things out of nowhere. People also should’ve gotten off his back, he’s still a very young lad after all.

Yes he’s not a Richarlison replacement, not even close but he’s currently our best forward player, although that’s not saying much. I think expectations were probably unfairly high but in saying that we brought him in for like £2m up front or whatever mad figure it was and sold Gordon for £45m despite the fact that McNeil is comfortably better and they’re both roughly the same age.

Hopefully if we can turn ourselves around and get going he’ll be at the very least a good squad player for us who didn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Thats exactly what I think. If he keeps giving 6 or 7 out of 10 performances then at worst case hes a very good player to have in the squad.

Im expecting him to be more 'visible' once we have a new centre forward or DCL back.

Some of these players need to work harder than ever and could become legends. What an opportunity to be part of history and keep Everton's run going in the top flight.

Yeah I think it’s very telling that literally all season he’s not played with a centre forward that actually compliments his game. If he had anything to aim at in the box he’d definitely have more assists.

Let’s not go overboard, none of these are legends, nothing close to it. In fact I would say I hate the vast majority.

We haven’t had a proper legend in probably decades if we’re honest with ourselves. The closest thing we have are Baines, Coleman and the like, amazing servants for the club and icons but didn’t win a tin pot for us.

He’s done enough so that we could at least make our money back on him which cannot be said for a long, long list of players we’ve signed.

He’ll be better with an actual centre forward to aim at, like all our midfielders but yeah, in a 451 as a wide midfielder, he’s hardworking, protects his fullback and has so Red more than I thought he would. Whoever signed him to play wide forward in a 433 was nuts, doesn’t have the skill set - formation suits him now.

These spells in form have to be maintained though. So often with our players they're not, hence us being 17th in the league. It'd be great if he actually did progress because that's what hasn't happened at Everton for so long.

I assume you mean launching crosses and that needs to stop being his game

He's still very average let's not kid ourselves. We knew he was a competent PL player when we signed him, don't let the fact that he originally looked utterly useless con you into thinking he's now a much better player than the one we signed, he's just back to the sort of performances that made him a regular for Burnley. He's doing fine at the moment, but he's still got a fair way to go before he can be seen as a good signing.

What was the last genuinely good signing?

If we had recruited better then he would be a decent bench option imo.
