2022/23 Dwight McNeil

I’ve said it since he was signed, feel free to go back and check, but this lad has something. He’s a hard worker and can create things out of nowhere. People also should’ve gotten off his back, he’s still a very young lad after all.

Yes he’s not a Richarlison replacement, not even close but he’s currently our best forward player, although that’s not saying much. I think expectations were probably unfairly high but in saying that we brought him in for like £2m up front or whatever mad figure it was and sold Gordon for £45m despite the fact that McNeil is comfortably better and they’re both roughly the same age.

Hopefully if we can turn ourselves around and get going he’ll be at the very least a good squad player for us who didn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Fair comment.

Let’s not go overboard, none of these are legends, nothing close to it. In fact I would say I hate the vast majority.

We haven’t had a proper legend in probably decades if we’re honest with ourselves. The closest thing we have are Baines, Coleman and the like, amazing servants for the club and icons but didn’t win a tin pot for us.
I never said they were but they have an opportunity to drag the club to safety, which will go down in history.

One of the few players actually trying.

I actually think they're all trying but the lack of quality is there for all to see and has been for a long time. McNeil, Gray and Iwobi just aren't capable of being anything other than players involved at this end of the table.

He's been our best attacker. Been let down by Mykolenko/Dyche not pushing wide for the option. He's better centrally. Needs to shoot into the corners though...
