Being built in some of the most hostile conditions possible. Cant imagine what it’s like for the construction teams.

All this money and resources available and it’s used to make an insane vanity project. I’m with @magicjuan, we’re completely screwed.

The majority of folk are good.

I’m sure, like me, you recycle for example. However I feel the world is targeting the wrong people when it comes to pollution. The vast majority of cars these days don’t kick out much crap.

The huge unregulated industries in Russia and China however, kick out pure filth in massive amounts. And then there are all the unnecessary, mostly-empty flights injecting pollution directly into the sky.

But no, it’s all our fault for driving ever-greener cars.

It feels like life suddenly moved too fast and we never got hold of it, it’s now just spiralling in a weird direction.
As someone posted earlier, I feel bad for my kids.

It has to start somewhere and I’m proud to be part of a society instigating those changes. Our kids are all now aware of the issue due to our actions. China is also leading the way in renewable energy

I was intending this to be a bit on the lighthearted side, but we will all probably be 'encouraged' or forced to live in these 15/20 minute cities eventually. I'm fascinated by all of this so I am prone to going a bit tin hat. Bear with me.

Climate change is going to have a stark effect on our lives and soon. World leaders will finally wake up to the disaster that is unfolding right before us. It will be a race against time attempting to make up for decades of apathy, and it won't be the rich that foot the bill. It'll have enormous implications on the lifestyles of normal people.

We won't have personal vehicles any more, only the rich will be able to afford that luxury. It's something which is beginning to occur in London and other major cities already (for reasons good and bad).

We will have a healthcare system that is either totally private or very intrusive and accusatory of one's lifestyle choices. We won't eat traditional food any more (except the rich), instead it'll be produced in labs and come in the form of a plant based/genetically modified powder which you add water to. You get all the nutrition you need for a meal in one shake. No slaughtering, no special storage requirements, cheap to produce and distribute, and non perishiable. Great for everybody! Also means less consumer products need to be manufactured. No need for cookers, fridges, toasters, air fryers that use up precious electricity and earth's natural resources.

I can see how all of this could enable a more sustainable future. Just a pretty bleak one.

You miss my point. Questioning why we recycle and promote electric cars when China/India/USA pump out billions of tonnes of carb per day is whataboutery (not on you particularly), we still need to fomiur but despite the actions of others

Wouldn’t agree it’s a vanity project. I really do think that’s just the way the world will be heading one day. Hundreds and hundreds of mini cities.

I've been using Instagram a lot lately for my business, and I've noticed there's an increasing amount of no mark wannabe influencers who 'sponsor' their own posts. They usually put something cryptic in the title, such as "all part of the journey" whilst posing on a tacky balcony in Dubai, wearing tight white trousers with loafers with no socks. People genuinely think they are brands now with their 49 likes.

Come and celebrate our dystopian world!
