I accepted early this season that City had failed to prioritise a title defence.
You cant do what they've set out to do without something giving way...and the most likely competition for it to give way in is a 38 game one.
If Guardiola is there next season he'll succeed in taking it back. Not much consolation in that though.
They seem to be doing a good impression of a team who isn't mate.
They will rest against Brighton, and I imagine Warnock will play a heavily weakened team Tuesday, so more time to rest lads up.
Thats 2 weeks for the likes of De Bruyne, Fernandino, Stones & Kompany to get fit and Aguero to get over any niggle.
With those lads back in, they are the best team in the country by a mile, including against Manchester United (who I suspect will stick out a weakened team against them given the CL priority, same with Spurs).
Liverpool have Chelsea (who are to prioritising the EL) and I also think Southampton, Wolves and Newcastle as potential slip up opportunities. I know they'll make a lot of the Benitez thing, but I'm pretty sure he's taken a lot of points off them recently (especially there). I imagine they will slip up in more than one of those games.
This weekend, is just another weekend ticked off for City, who had an away game, where they have also upped the goal difference.
Spurs look finished to me this season. City will run through them in the league, and Spurs will rest up for the CL.
One thing which would be helpful is Watford defeating Wolves. Keep their interest in the season for 7th up. Wolves also have a great record against the top teams this season and have turned Liverpool over once already.
I sense Barcelona give them a hammering (I'm hoping United don't do anything stupid there) in the semi finals and they lose the league by 3-4 points. Another season of nothing in spite of spending more than anyone else in Europe.
