If City fall short of the major two trophies and end up winning two (barely wanted) consolation prizes because of fatigue and looking jaded, it will surely be a feather in Klopp's cap.

He knew the pool's squad is nowhere near as good and calculated his best chance of winning was throwing the consolation prizes in order to have a far less congested fixture list.

Pep has rotated but still four competitions is a massive ask, I know it's possibly a once in a career chance of all four but there are two that are really worth it for a club of their size.

Luck absolutely has been a massive and perhaps the biggest factor, but Liverpool needed huge amounts of luck and a more focussed approach on the prizes that really matter - not the league cup or F.A. cup.
