ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Hopefully, but Hughton will have every ex Liverpool player giving him instructions this week to go out and play for a 0-0. They’ll build it up to such an extent that he’ll fancy himself a hero like Rodgers and Dyche did. Some of their players know they’re in the media limelight as well and will bask in the kopite attention. Hopefully City’s quality is too much but without De Bruyne their only attacking formation seems to be with Sane and Sterling both sides. Pep seems to prefer this off the bench as if he starts with it and it doesn’t work like at Burnley he’s got nothing to go back to. If De Bruyne had stayed fit this was over the second they beat Spurs at home but with him out and Fernandinho it feels like they’re limping to the line. Hopefully Brighton will be poor enough to oblige.
Brighton wont pose the threat Leicester did last night. I see City as clear winners by whatever scoreline they want it to be, tbh.

Attacking wise they could do worse than freshen it up a bit by starting Mahrez. He's not a City type player but he has a goal or two against poor opposition like Brighton. Id defo leave Foden out who, to me, looks very ordinary despite the hype. He's a very obvious player to watch. I dont see him conjuring up the quality City need on a consistent basis.

De Bruyne and Fernandinho have been a big miss, defo yeah.

This points comparison stuff from other seasons is completely pointless. Liverpool are desperate for every single point so of course have gone for wins when other teams in other seasons would have subbed players off and cruised to a draw if that was all that was needed. There’s been loads of seasons when the title has been won a few games out and teams have strolled through last few games resting players for CL games or FA cup final and throwing up odd results. Fergie actually used to train for a slow start to the season then for United to come good knowing that mid 80s would win it. As soon as Mourinho raised the bar he adapted and aimed for a higher points total. Just because Guardiola raised the bar and Klopp adapted his approach to meet the new points tally doesn’t mean that this Liverpool side are suddenly better than some of the best sides in premier league history. It’s a completely futile comparison especially if they finish second.

So now the ball is on the other foot, they finally realise why he was so despised. I’d love it if he does the same tomorrow night.

"We stand by our own at this club."

Karius would disagree.

What it translates to really is 'if a player is world class then we will forget any morals we have, despite them said morals being questionable to begin with."

They have admitted in the last week that the pursuit of trophies and their bitterness towards United was more important than fighting racism.

They are special, they loved suarez ( rightly so he was boss ) for the way he behaved, he was the ultimate snide, all he done for barca last week was play like he did for Liverpool every game, be a wind up, try and get under the defenders skin ( it worked ) now they are all hate him

football without Liverpool fans is nothing,

What did Suarez even do? Celebrated a goal in a completely normal fashion and then played well. What a crime.

The good thing about Sunday is City will have learned a lot from last night. How to hold your nerve.

They seemed in a hurry first half. Pep obviously spoke to them at half time because they were like a different team 2nd half. No hurry, just kept the ball knowing a chance or two would come.

The whole 90 minutes on Sunday should be like last nights 2nd half.

...they basically played for two competitions. The likes of Chelsea, United or Arsenal in the past who may have finished winners/RU with less points were eyeballs out for all 4 trophies. That's a factor too.

At least the RS cannot win the league on goal difference.

If they draw and City lose, Brighton will need to beat them by 5 clear goals for the RS to take the title, as if GD is level it goes down to goals scored which City would win in.

Both teams win, City take the title. Both sides draw, City take the title. Both sides lose, City take the title.

Now is the first and only must-win game of the RS season, and even then it's not in their hands. That's real pressure for you.
