ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

The comparison doesn’t take account of the relative strength of the premier league either. Mourinho’s Chelsea for example had to compete against the invincibles, Fergie’s United, Liverpool’s CL winners, even our side that finished 4th. 95 points in that league conceding only 15 is an unbelievable achievement. United around 08/09 had Benitez’s Liverpool, resurgent City and Spurs, Chelsea were CL finalists and title winners, Arsenal challenging for the title. Even we had one of our best prem sides getting to a cup final and European regulars.

The top 6 aside from City Liverpool and Spurs are a shambles this season, we’ve been poor, the fact that a newly promoted side is in 7th tells you all you need to know, Huddersfield Fulham and Cardiff are probably not even championship standard. It’s been a low quality season that is conducive to a high points total for two teams financially doped to the max pushing each other to not be able to coast through any game.

Comparisons to any other season are futile. Put this Liverpool team in a game on a neutral venue against United of Ronaldo Rooney Tevez Berbatov, or against Mourinho’s Chelsea, or Henry Bergkamp Pires etc. and see how they’d fare. I doubt the apparent ten point difference in quality would quickly disappear and they’d probably be on for a hiding similar to the ones they’ve received from ageing Madrid and Barcelona teams recently.
Yeah, defo. It's a freak season and Liverpool have done all they could to maximize their PL chances in terms of ducking out of competitions, and the huge help they've had off officials. The scheduling of games has been unbelievably light for them too. It all adds up.

I think Foden is a very good player. But he's 18 or 19. These are the games when you want experience and the know-how to get things over the line. The fact that he played against Leicester means that he may well be one of those players in the future, but for now get the players on who are cute enough to do what they have to do to get it won.
Yes, true. He is young. He knows how to find space and join in with play. As you say thugh, in a title run in you have to have more players with end product on the pitch.

Normally fear the worst with them, but there is no way they get a result if Salah and Firmino are out. They could find Wolves difficult as well if the pair are missing for that game.

I won't be able to rest until and unless City get over the line. It's football when all's said and done and the RS have a lot of authority in their favour, I expected Mike Dean to find some fault with Kompany's goal last night.

It's been quite rotten really since the turn of the year. Watching the RS lose their lead was very amusing but they recovered and just won't go away.

They are like a bad smell that you can't get rid of and it eventually becomes putrid. Hopefully this particular stench will be gone next Sunday evening and we can all breath fresh air again.
I cant imagine a scenario that City dont pump Brighton about 3 or 4 nil.

It's a cakewalk for City. They'd complete the job even if they went down to 10 men in the first 5 minutes. The chasm in class is enormous.

It is but I think you always have to factor in ifs and buts. Something like an early sending off, an own goal, or a deflection that goes against City and it's literally a different ball game.

City should do it but football can be strange at times. If they can get ahead early it will make a huge difference as the RS will probably streamroller Wolves.

By all accounts the Brighton game will have a delayed kick off on sunday.

Chris Hughton will be scouring Brighton beach looking for his players
I'd love to see a fat sun burnt dad with a string vest and knotted handkerchief on his head in goal for Brighton. Perhaps an actual sea gull up front scoffing a robbed bag of chips. Still take City 70 minutes to score though and make my nerves jangle longer than they should.

Glorious to know that they had to have a perfect season to win the title and pretty much did, and will still come second!

A bad start for them next season and it makes it even better

I look at the Brighton team and dont see any danger to City. It literally is a 100/1 chance they hold City.

It's done as far as I'm concerned.

Liverpool versus Wolves on the other hand....

Talksport this morning:

Bob Mills "The reason people have a problem is due to the complete over saturation of ex Liverpool players in the media"

Jim White "So you're into conspiracy theories now Bob?"

Bob Mills "...."

Micky Gray: "Look, the reason is that for decades Liverpool have been challenging for titles and trophies. They have a hell of a lot of legends in that club....."

That's when I turned off. Basically, Jim white disagrees there are too many RS in the media and Micky Gray forgets the fact that every team has it's legends but only Liverpool legends opinions count.
