ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

If a team negates their physicality and makes it about football they can be handled quite easily. Sadly too many teams struggle to deal with players bought specifically to run fast and hard.
That would only be possible if teams were willing to abandon the practise of taking six or seven passes to get from the goalkeeper to the full-back, via the centre-halves and at least one defensive midfielder. I'm all for playing out from the back whenever it's on, but it's insane how often you see these passing routines performed when it's obvious that they're going to be dispossessed.

'Don't arse about in your own half,' should be a mantra repeated by every team about to face Liverpool, yet they all do it.

The more I watch Liverpool, the more I think that they're a bully who just needs to be stood up to. They obviously have three excellent players in attack, and I think there's a lot to be said for the fact that they don't play high-risk passes 10 yards in front of their own box, but what really sets them apart is their pace and aggression. The Barcelona players were mentally broken by Liverpool's physicality last night, and looked genuinely frightened of snarling gimps like Milner, Henderson and Robertson. It was bizarre to watch.

Unfortunately, like you, I don't think that Tottenham are the ones to do it.
Thing is at Anfield they are invincible, but apart from one draw, all there 4 CL loses and Premier league draws have been away. Spurs seems to be ok away from home, when they went to Barcelona in the group's they held them to a 1 1, Liverpool will miss the home field advantage.

One in the eye for the “fans don’t affect the players’ performances, they need to give us something to sing about” mob. Their fans have won them yet another big game by grinding their opposition into a fine dust at Anfield and elevating average players to believe they can do anything.

Brilliant post.

I had a delivery earlier, I start talking to the delivery driver, and he's like "Scouser hey, you must be absolutely buzzing about last night" (I live in the South - east now) I'm like "no, I'm an Everton fan" he comes back with "Yeah but you must still be happy Liverpool got through, especially with you being from Liverpool" I just signed his little pad thing and closed the door.

I got that all the time when I lived in Birmingham.

People outside the north-west have no idea that Everton FC is a Liverpool-based club.

Spurs fans will be in for a shock if they think they'll get equal coverage with mega bucks fc. By the time the final comes along on June 1st people will be saying 'and who are lfc going to play in the final'? Even though Spurs have eclipsed them in the biggest stand, and now the greatest comeback in CL history.

I bet they are fuming that Spurs have stolen their thunder.

A much more pulsating, much more dramatic comeback by some distance :)

It was an absolutely incredible game of football. Not a single minute went by in that second half without something happening.
