ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

I’m not defending anything or anyone. I’m merely pointing out, on occasion, how ridiculous I think some of the stuff posted in this thread is.

The rabid hatred of all things Liverpool Football Club that comes across in some of the posts is, in my opinion, well over the top. I’d like to think that it’s just people venting on an Internet forum and that they don’t carry on like that in real life, but I’m not so sure. Generally speaking, I hate what our rivalry with them has become and long for how it was when I was growing up. It’s poisonous now.

It was your lot that made it toxic. There’s a reason the entire country hates Liverpool fans and not Everton fans.

So did I, they were just as cocky, arrogant and self--obsessed then as they are now.

Some were, a lot were. There were, of course, exceptions to the rule. I’m not going to tar every kopite with the same brush, as that would just be daft in my opinion. Maybe we would have been as cocky and arrogant as them had roles been reversed and we’d won what they did. Who knows?. That said, things just felt different then. The rivalry wasn’t close to being as poisonous as it is now. Just my opinion, like. I respect the right of others to disagree.

Zartan, I'm venting here because I can't bloody do it anywhere else except Bluemoon, and to my stepfamily, who I don't see often. I can't do it on Facebook because I'll just get whinged at, one of my close friends has a huge crush on Klopp, and a lot of my friends couldn't care less about football. I'm not going to go out and punch a Liverpool supporter but when you've had abuse off them for years, and one of them calls you nasty names for calling Suarez a racist, it's hard not to be annoyed.

I hope Pochettino uses Salah's shirt as a hankie.
Not as a hankie, but as a certain kind of sock.

Pity our chance to shine in Europe was taken away when they decided to kill people then wasnt it?

Although as I'm sure you're aware, it was Chelsea supporters.

I think blues and reds alike are responsible. There’s knobheads on both sides and all the social media crap you get these days doesn’t help. It’s an unpopular opinion but I simply don’t buy into Heysel being the sole reason.

These 2 posts just convinced me your a defo RS mate.
You just don’t get it and a fully paid up member of the cult.

You haven't won a league in 29 years..... you have spent more money than any club not to win the EPL..... there is no need for the arrogance, the entitlement..... the behaviour of your fans trashing coaches, supporting a biting racist player..... yet you lot have the gall to be offended by a song that isn't even certain to be about what you think it is.....

Mate, you can think what you like, but I am most certainly not a paid up member of “the cult”. Absolutely ridiculous. You crack on, but in my opinion you’re in danger of ending up hating Liverpool more than you love us. Personally, I’m not prepared to waste energy doing so.

EPL? Mate, Premier League will suffice. Anyway, you’re directing this at the wrong person. I don’t support Liverpool.

You're correct. Emlyn Hughes' 'Liverpool are magic, Everton are tragic' was a long time before Heysel.
BTW, when we were doing well in the 80s I didn't give a flying one what they were doing. All I cared about was our success. Emlyn et al were classless and not a lot has changed since then.
