ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

You compared domestic success and being the team that all the players want to go to who are German. To insane spenders, and then to corrupt government practices.

It's all very odd. I don't even get comparing clubs that spend way too much to real social issues. It's a lack of perspective on almost all levels.

Mate what are you on about. Have you even read what the journalists are saying

2 of the shouts were that

City were run by a man whose country has horrendous human rights violations - hence my reference to our own goverment.

City's spending is making the league uncompetitive - hence the Bayern shout. They have won the German league 7 years in a row!!! As well as featuring in 5 cup finals within that time. Nobody seems to have an issue with the uncompetitive nature of that.

I hope to God Spurs do them in the final it would be hilarious.

I just really hope we win a trophy next season - I've missed the build up to Wembley - the flags around the city and in the car windows.

As mentioned above if we were to win a trophy before them they would be absolutely gutted and sink to new levels of bitterness.

Spurs being in the final with them has completely punctured the build up to it this year for them. It’s completely different from last year where every outlet was banging on about the final since the first leg of the semis. No one seems arsed this year. Two premier league teams who everyone knows aren’t as good as City having a kick and rush fest in the final after seeing off a team of Ajax kids in the semi and an over the hill Barca.

Uefa need to reshape the CL if they want to retain interest in it as at the moment it’s being ruined by too much weighting on home advantage in two legged ties and away goal rules. Teams can get to the final having lost every single away game they play in the competition. There’s no other competition in football you can do that in.

Just an observation, but I've noticed an increased use of the term 'an RS' recently. Can all guilty parties kindly use the correct term 'a RS' in future correspondence. Many thanks ;).
Surely it's 'AN RS' not 'A RS' it's the sound not the letter i.e 'AN HOTEL' pedantic? moi? :)

You mean the same team that beat Juventus and Madrid on their way to the semis?
Like them or hate them. But dont refer to them to as kids. What they did was an tremendous achievement.

Oh undoubtedly but it’s just that, an achievement, Ajax aren’t one of the 4 best sides in Europe, neither are Spurs. I referred to them as kids because most of the team are so young.

We’re starting to see a trend more and more though of teams winning titles in the top leagues being unable to go the distance in the CL. The CL semi finals are no longer bringing together the best 4 teams in Europe. In fact it’s turning into a lottery of which team doesn’t have any major domestic distractions and gets lucky with injuries/fixtures/ the placement of the tie come March/April. City and PSG would have beat any of the semi finalists at a neutral venue, and both went out via away goals having not even been beaten outright over two legs.

You can’t deny that the CL is exciting but if it persists with the top sides not making the latter stages then the prestige will start to erode.
