ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

As a red, I knew Henderson would miss. I think everyone thought he would. His pen was ok, and if the keeper had gone the other way it would have been called as a great pen, but he didn’t and I agree that he telegraphed it a bit, so whether it was a good pen or not is irrelevant.

I also thought Pickford was a bit crap with his pushing out of shots into the danger area vs Belgium but not really at fault for the goal, so some of the criticism was valid but the OTT flak for the goal was undeserved.

He’s not a great goalie, but so far his faults haven’t cost England, and he was the hero in the shootout so you can’t ask for much more than that.

Whether he’ll become a great goalie I don’t think so, but he’s young and should improve.

Very few goalies become great. Courtois started as one that could have been but doesn’t seem like one anymore, so that shows how hard it is.

Shut up.

The pre season trophy is up for grabs again, and they are looking to retain it for the 16th year running. They know the amount of knobenderry is a key influencer in the decision, so expect beating a set of part timers to be met with huge approval.

Didn’t you boys grab that last season with your billions? Lot of optimism just over 12 months ago, which was a little off the mark...

And had to sack your manager and pay Fat Sam a ransom along the way.

The only reason I posted was to call out the hypocrisy. I’ll go back to not bothering. Lots of “heads were falling off” on the red side last year is what we heard. “The tide is changing and they’re bricking it” was what they said.

They weren’t; it didn’t; and the only thing remotely similar about the level of performance between the two clubs over the season last year was the number of trophies.

The fact I’m a red means I expect to get “I know you are but what am I” responses from the some, so probably best going back to doing what my username says.

How the media have just reported what they were told to regarding Karius' 'concussion' just reinforces the wildly biased, tribal nature of football 'journalism' these days.

The fact that the tests were supposedly conducted in a hospital in which John H Henry is on the board of trustees was never raised, let alone questioned.

It's great that this has turned on them, their pathological inability to self-scrutinise and admit error is now resulting in them having to retain a dreadfully poor keeper out of pure stubbornness.

It's small karma, but it will do nonetheless.

Looking forward to the next excuse when he drops another clanger, it will probably be aliens temporarily taking control of his mind, backed up by the US Government.

You can’t even choke out one piece of credit from your bitter mouths can you. ‘So far his faults havent cost England’ ,the rest of the country are going on about his great save v Colombia, his penalty saves, three good saves v Sweden. Why is it so difficult for Liverpool fans just to admit that Pickford is currently playing like a top keeper and is one of the best in the prem and at the World Cup.

Well for all the RS mealy mouthed nit picking of Jordan Pickford when the rest of the country is praising him, at least they can relax knowing their leader has played Karius again as the concussions clearly worn off. Im puzzled though...why on earth did the kopites say he should never play for them again...when their world class manager thinks to the contrary???

I wrote that before the Sweden game, so was hardly going to credit him for something that hadn’t happened yet.

His save against Colombia was terrific, but it slipped my mind as the resulting corner went in, so the penalty saves (which I mentioned, and called him a hero for) took the focus.

He was excellent yesterday though.

He made a few, but tye save from the header was top draw and at a hugely important time.

Credit where it’s due.

No mate, easy mistake to make but we actually won the transfer window cup, awarded to us by Richard "jordan Pickford is a liability" Keys. West Ham look the early favourites for that this year.

Some heads were definitely falling off mate. People were phoning radio stations complaining that a development creating thousands of jobs and possibly kickstarting investment in an area worth billions to the city's economy should be put off to accommodate (fictional) shipping routes from Rhyl.

Every player we bought apart from Pickford flopped, older players such as Williams fell off a cliff in terms of performance and key players like Baines, Jagielka, Coleman etc missed key parts of the season through injury. Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. It happens and when it does you look a bit daft.

We still finished just 4 places below your lot though, having had Sam Allardyce as manager, while you supposedly had the best season in years. That's not attempting to be a childish remark either but the reality is, given everything that went well for you last season you under achieved.

I mean you won’t though will you. You’re literally on here to get those responses, otherwise you wouldn’t have started to talk down an opposition goalkeeper on their own forum and make various outlandish and confrontational comments.

Because any time spent talking about another player is time that's not being spent talking about those attention seeking idiots mate.

Get outclassed in a football match? Just blame everything else so no-one knows we were inferior

Spend billions on players and never win the league? Blame the team who's spent more but don't question why we're not always second or third

Nearly win a trophy? Spin it that the greatest underdog story in the world almost created history while being cheered on by the rest of the world

I saw a video of Karuis in the warm up yesterday lobbing one in his net in exactly the same way (the same nearly happened against Roma too). Alleged concussion or not there is a clear technical glitch there, which at 25 if you haven't got out of your game you are unlikely too. He will make mistakes again next season and the unease it will cause to the crowd and then the players could be significant. No amount of imaginary concussions diagnosed from right wing trump like American hospitals will change that.

Indeed...though the irony of that and my post will be lost on them.

There are some Blues who will (grudgingly) admit that Henderson is doing his designated job for England quite well, rs or not.
