ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Klopp has been defensive in every big game this season. Happy for the draw because he knows if his side opens up they´ll be shown up for what they are. That ´midfield´ he´s assembled are a bunch of yard dogs who run around a lot. Not an ounce of creativity between them.

Any chance they had against Arsenal were straight punts to the forward line

Same again tonight on MOTD2 "analysis".

Put the pressure on the refs "not to be conned" by Chelsea. Standing your ground in the box is something that Liverpool dont do. Corinthian spirit prevails.

Fernandinho winning possession legally in midfield is now a dark art that must be eradicated.

They were delusional last year claiming they played the best football in Europe but at least you could see why some bought the argument. This year they are horrible to watch. They sit deep and launch long diagonals to Salah or Mane and just chase the knockdown or second balls looking to capitalise on a set piece or a penalty. They’re miles behind City Chelsea Arsenal or even Spurs in terms of getting the ball on the deck and taking the game to teams.

I can see them finishing 3rd in a two horse race again.

3rd you say....that’ll be a big improvement, better than the usual 4th on goal difference.

I wonder if there points total will improve. It went backwards last year when Klopp finished with less points than he did the year before.

Spuds and Arse arne't far behind them and are quietly getting on with their business without all the dramas of being title contenders like the 3rd place team. I wouldn't be surprised if the September Champions finish 5th, 3rd or 4th is more likely but 5th isn't off the radar.
In facht, the RS are as close to 5th place as they are to top (a win and a draw). Good job they won the league early

"We’re not challenging Manchester City.... we’re challenging for top 4 again.
It’s so annoying that the times we have created a good team..... someone with Country or Oil money creates something better!!!
My biggest fear is we eventually loose when he’s contract runs it’s course and he hasn’t quite got us that 19th title. Not because he’s not good enough but simply because there was s team that was just that little bit better.
This year we thought it would be us against Manchester City and then Chelsea and Arsenal have also improved greatly.
Because of 5is I’m finding it hard to enjoy the season so far....... we will all take points off each other and Manchester City will go on....... winning 4-1 at half time.... they will be 2 points ahead......at some point we’re going to lose.... and that’s 5 points and the way they’re playing it’s practically title over.
I’m 51.... supported Liverpool got 46 years and want this title more than anything in the world.... so frustrating!!!
Before everyone goes mental and start to tell me to f off etc..... it’s jus5 how I’m feeling... I enjoyed last season because there was no title expectation and the champions League ‘journey’ was unexpected and spectacular!
This season I just can’t get excited because of the inevitability of Manchester City!!

I think what’s really putting the cat amongst the pidgeons of their collective psyche is that if it was a clear two horse race they’d already be trotting the line out ‘Guardiola only does 3 seasons then when he’s gone Klopp would definitely win if’. Now they’re watching arguably a less exciting team than they had last season, Klopp’s midfield buys haven’t worked, they’ve been easily handled by nascent Sarri and Emery sides not to mention they couldn’t lay a glove on City even at home, and top cap it off they’ve had their best ever start and not managed to move themselves away from Spurs Arsenal or Chelsea. Even if City didn’t compete next season objective punters wouldn’t put a huge amount on Klopp edging out some of those managers with another transfer window behind them. They’re playing amongst the big boys and coming to the realisation that assumptions they’ve been fed for the last 3 seasons ‘Klopp is the best manager in the top 6’ ‘Salah is the best forward in the world’ ‘Keita will revolutionise the midfield, Liverpool won’t miss Coutinho’ are simply not true as the evidence mounts against it. From the performances of all the teams after 11 games this season they look like they’ll be in a top 4 fight with Spurs and Arsenal for the two places behind City and Chelsea.
