ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Liverpool have placed some pressure on City now going into the weekend games. If they get a win at Bournemouth they go a point clear. If City slam the door shut again with a win against Chelsea I can see that being pretty significant.

Liverpool are digging results out and will certainly drop points over the hectic Christmas period. They likelihood is they'll pick up injuries and/or lose energy levels and it'll eventually distance them from City. The squad depth isn't there to match City. Gomes looks like being out for a long spell and Lovren is as likely to have a calamity as a good game.

Saturday will be important though - very important in setting the tone for the Christmas / new year games.

Klopp says Gomes injury is a bad one. Ankle.

He'll be out until spring (possibly the season) with that, IMO.

The Gomes-VVD pairing is the bedrock of that team. That's going to mean them persevering with Lovren or going into the transfer market. Either way it'll be a huge disruption.

Thank goodness for rainy nights in Burnley. :coffee:

Keep your eye on the next Gomez injury update. I think that'll be much more crucial than that win they got tonight. If it's curtains for a few months, they are screwed.

For me, Gomez has been the star of the show at the back and his absence would be every bit as significant as VVD getting injured. He's much more solid than VVD IMO, he senses danger and has the pace to snuff it out. Him and VVD have held them firm thus far...just about. If he's out for any length of time it's dire for them.

Just read there that Gomez was stretchered off in the first half tonight. Didn't end up mattering with regards to the game, but potentially a bit of a blow for them if he's out for any reasonable period of time now.
Honestly, I like the lad. He had a MASSIVE injury as well a couple years ago. Wish we got him along with Lookman at the same time, was always touted to have a big future.

NEA about them winning, it just builds their hope more. Their fume will be all the greater the longer hope remains.
It'll soon be over
Morning Lurkers, you horrors

Exactly, don't know why blues get so wound up over it, I love it, I wanted them unbeaten going into the Derby the closer it got so we had that chance.

I've read the same on here for years, worrying they were going to win the CL etc, everyone was cacking it, but the sensible amongst us were looking forward to their fury when they lost.

The worry some had about them winning in the CL was all worth it seeing as they're still now moaning about the injustice of what was the softest incident to injure a player in a final, ever.

yep, he has been very good...he also plays at right back if klop s worried about the opposition winger as alexander-arnold is getting found out defensively..
