ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

After getting beat by Newcastle I was convinced Liverpool would beat Leicester quite easily. They didn't. We should have put Newcastle to the sword, we didn't, that's football. Had the ref not been pedantic (I know ) In disallowing De Bruyne's split second too early free kick we would have probably gone on to win fairly comfortably. And had fernandinho not turned on the blind side of Longstaff he wouldn't have given away a penalty.

If Liverpool win the league you know what so what, the team winning the league win it for a reason, and to be fair Liverpool have been the best so far this season in my opinion.

We just have to keep plugging away and see where it takes us. If Liverpool can hang on and win the title they will deserve it..... but tonight's result against Leicester gives me hope I didn't have last night, so you never know. It's far from over though.

They will not win the league you know what so what, we don't deserve to win everything I would certainly, expect to I've been a blue far too old for that.

I have just noticed Spurs are creeping into it again.

Seven points behind the Devil’s Own XI......two off City.

As good as last season's premiership title win was on my behalf, if we win it this season it will be even more sweeter I think in coming from behind and pipping them at the post. Imagine the grief on the other side of Liverpool and Klopps gnashers snarling like a dog with distemper. ;)

Don’t think you’d be allowed to pip them to be honest. The hangover from 13/14 still permeates through everything. That was their title and they were cruelly denied. To then lose in Kiev as well. It has been too much for the media establishment. They have been the champions elect from the moment the first ball has been kicked this season and the campaign to get them there has been unrelenting. I expect both teams will probably drop points but Klopp knows he can crate a media storm over a penalty incident in a way no other manager in the league can. He can brazenly call for one despite profiting from numerous soft ones the other way. They control the media, most of the referees, have a far number of opposition managers who support them, have a fair number of opposition players who support them. They have been promised their title and it will take an absolute miracle now for them not to be given it one way or another.

Interesting to think Everton can still have a say in the title race with 2 of those teams having to come to Goodison and last game at Spurs if they are in with a shout. That would be funny, as if they pip them both to the title, great scenes in the Everton end with fans jumping for joy as Spurs score against us

That would be hilarious if Spurs needed 6 or 7 goals on the last day to win the league against Liverpool and Everton gave it to them.

The goal difference is (Liverpool) +41 (Spurs) +26, but it'd be closer if Spurs caught up in points (ie Liverpool losing a couple of games).

Anyone who thinks that was the denial of a "clear goalscoring opportunity " are utterly deluded. 45 yards from goal and the ball moving away from the goal. The moaning about it is laughable.

Also if I hear another pundit talk about "the last man".....

That's not even in the rules. It's a clear and obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Best part of last night for me was VanDyke being found out, as I always knew he would when the pressure was on. What was it: food poisoning last night; “I am not one hundred per cent, I have a bit of a cold”, a couple of weeks ago? You’re okay, son, but you’re no 75 million pound player. Off pedestal.
