ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Two different united fans this week said to me, they’d rather city when the quadruple and emulate their treble, rather than the RS winning the league. That is how desperate they are for the RS not to win it.
%100, I know plenty of Mancs, City don't mean much to them, they don't take them serious and don't care if City win the league, Liverpool on them other hand. Thing is City have done it now, but Liverpool haven't wont the Prem, the fact they haven't is of great amusement to them, and annoyance to Kopites.

Keep seeing blues on twitter saying they don't care what the RS do only care about how Everton do. I can't grasp how you can support Everton, live in the city, and not hate everything about that club. I'd rather we finished 12th and they got 2nd than us get 2nd and they win the league.

I don't live in the city, but I definitely don't want them to win. So that aside, your comparison doesn't really make any sense. This team isn't finishing 2nd. If you tell me that the game vs man city would ensure a champions league spot, what would you want then?

Granted, that would require a good team to qualify, something we dont have now, so I'll take the loss. It's easy to say lose to city if you're crap, who cares about 2nd. But if this team could actually win anything you wouldn't be saying that imo.

The difference is, United fans would prefer City, a Mancunian team, to win the league. Whereas, plenty of Scouse Blues would give their left nut to see a Mancunian team win it. I don’t subscribe to this way of thinking at all. As an older fella, I remember when blues and reds got on with one another and much preferred it that way.
I too remember when Blues and Reds got on together. In fact, I still get on with those of my generation with whom I've grown up/got older with. However, whilst having a pint and a laugh together or watching a neutral match together is all good.....when we play they badly want us to lose (unless we can do them a favour). Likewise I don't want them to win anything either. They know it and I know. And we know each other know it!!
It doesn't stop us being friends or respectable colleagues/people. I can't speak for other or younger generations, but ultimately its a rivalry. Thats it.

The reason why no one wants them to win anything is because they are such bad winners. They are unbearable. I can deal with the die hard Scouse reds who've followed them for years but the ones who all of a sudden come out of the woodwork and start ramming it down your throat. I don't think there is a club more universally disliked by other fans. Every single Manc, without exception, I have spoken to would rather City win the league. That speaks volumes and to say it's a regional thing is wrong because at the same time they'd sooner we won the league over City.

This thing with Klopp criticising Walker over his twitter comments. As in 'he'd never celebrate other teams dropping points'. Probably not, in public. And thats right I'd say. Must've been a tad happy inside though when City lost at Newcastle.
And....he wasn't slow to get half the pitch cleared of snow to give his team every possible advantage was he. Again, all's fair in love and war. But, on that basis, don't come across as whiter than white. Just get on with it.

Sadly, the city is pretty much universally disliked. It’s the 21st century, yet [Poor language removed] heads everywhere wheel out tired old cliches about Scousers. Millwall fans, last weekend, “I’d rather be a P*** than a Scouse”.

Easy for United fans to say they’d prefer us to win the league over City, when there’s no chance of it happening anytime soon. Sadly, we’re a total and utter irrelevance to United.

Let's be honest, a sizeable proportion of RS fan's do not know Liverpool as a city.

They fly in, swan around town dressed in tat from the souvenir shop, and then get ripped off by taxi drivers for the drive to Analfield.

Zero respect for these mercenaries

Liverpool born RS fan's, are in my experience divided in 2 generational camps.

All younger members, being more easily duped, are fully signed up members of the Cult.

Some older red's, remembering their full history, tend to be more reasonable.

This being said, I am far happier to swerve them all.

We, too, have our share of fans from
outside the city. Granted, nowhere near as many as them, but I think we would, had we won as much as them in the 70s and 80s. Anyway, sound blues are okay by me, regardless of where they are from.
