Ita not an excuse though for the younger generation to mention heysel. That's their mums and dads who were witness to a great Everton side watching it get torn apart because if no European football so of course they are going to mention it to the next generation.
But you say you don't live in Liverpool anymore so I doubt you hear many Evertonians going on about it ( unless you go the match and it's a weekly thing you hear where you sit ) I'm 40 years old, been going since I was 8 and I've heard it mentioned twice at a match in that time.
That was meI don’t go the match anymore. To be honest, I simply can’t afford it. I mostly see Evertonians going on about it on the internet, usually twitter. Although someone on here, who incorrectly assumed I was a Kopite, called me a “wall pusher”.
I'd rather have Europa over CL if it meant stoppping them winning the league. I'd rather have no europe than europe if it meant then not winning the league. I'd rahter keep Marco Silva for 3 seasons than have them win the league.I don't live in the city, but I definitely don't want them to win. So that aside, your comparison doesn't really make any sense. This team isn't finishing 2nd. If you tell me that the game vs man city would ensure a champions league spot, what would you want then?
Granted, that would require a good team to qualify, something we dont have now, so I'll take the loss. It's easy to say lose to city if you're crap, who cares about 2nd. But if this team could actually win anything you wouldn't be saying that imo.

I wonder why.Sadly, the city is pretty much universally disliked. It’s the 21st century, yet [Poor language removed] heads everywhere wheel out tired old cliches about Scousers. Millwall fans, last weekend, “I’d rather be a P*** than a Scouse”.

It's a young thing, deffo one that lads who weren't even born use a lot more than the generation who were actually affected by it.
A year after it we all traveled down to Wembley together, sang about how jersey side was great and that London stank and no one mentioned heysel at all. Same again in 89 although there was a more recent tragedy that people were talking about.
Must win for City tomorrow
If City lose tomorrow it might be a bit confusing for the media. Spurs, who the media have discounted for weeks, will be above them. So, will it be a 1,2 or 3 horse race? Confused. The RS could still finish 3rd in a 2 horse race. They still have Spurs to play too. How sweet would that be
Well what else are we universally disliked for ? Do you mean culturally and aesthtically in spite of our many treasures.. local and national. Or maybe our booming student economy or our hotels packed to the rafters...etc zzzzzGive over, mate. Football isn’t the be all and end all. Sorry state of affairs when utter b ollocks like this is posted on a Scouse forum. Proper Uncle Tom behaviour.
