ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I take comfort when I see their market stall flags hanging out of their windows because most of the time it’s a fully grown adult male, living on his own, with a flag hanging out of his window.

My ma’s next door neighbour being one.

Was setting fireworks off in his front garden when they won it apparently. On his own.

Absolute weirdos.

yep - I too know a couple like that.
No kids, no friends, but set fireworks off on their own........ sober.

beyond weird

I wouldn't be surprised if he was lurker on this very forum (hello Tony!)
and has picked up the sentiment of how you guys are feeling about Liverpool
these days. It makes for lazy journalism and an easy article / story.
It happens all of the time on Bluemoon (City Forum). A thread kicks off about
something and lo and behold a couple of days later an article in a national
newspaper appears about the exact same subject and contents.
As I say lazy, easy and very predictable. But that is Tony in a nutshell...

We know plenty of journos pop on here. One year, a totally made up transfer rumour concerning Kenwyn Jones in a thread ended up as an actual article in the Mail.

An article by well-known Reds fan Tony Evans in the Independent.
Tony Evans is a massive bellend.

He insinuates the deterioration in the relationship between the two sets of fans is due to Evertonians resenting their success. What his limited brain fails to comprehend is that it has absolutely nothing to do with their success.

It's their behaviour, simple as that, but his superiority complex means he'd never be able to accept or understand that, no matter how idiot-proof you made the message.

Also says "a flare was fired at the Liver building." A single flare? Koff yer spin-mongering kopite gobshite.

Think the first time I realised how proper strange some of their fans were was when I was on a family holiday the summer Rooney was leaving.

Was walking to the pool in an Everton top. Some fella, easily in his fifties who I’d never seen before in my life comes running over to me waving a newspaper in my face, massive grin on him: “I see Rooney’s off ey!”

I was 13 at the time

I have just entered the word 'Parade' into my English converted into RS translation tool.

'Parade' = Mass intoxication, vandalism, physical and verbal attacks on emergency services personnel, flares (placed into the hands of children), all quickly followed by a general amnesia and a tendency to blame everyone else, except yourself.

That's reminded me of an old programme feature with the players, Southall was asked what job he'd like if he wasn't a footballer, he replied 'mersey tunnel booth operator', at the time there was a huge fraud going on involving hundreds of thousands of pounds, stashed under beds, boats bought etc
Bit savvy was our Nev.
Same with the fellas who emptied the phone boxes.

A relative of mine worked on the tunnels and yes it was true about the boats.
He did say they ruined it for themselves with greed.

Nicking actual 'sausage and mash' had a certain cache that I could understand.

All this online blagging and 'white collar' crime, just does not have the same excitement I feel.

:coffee:

agreed ,it’s like now with covid it’s turning into a cashless society and I just love the feel of actual ‘cash’ .

I remember going through the tunnel with a mate shortly after it hit the news
My mate said to the fella " he are lad get yourself another yacht "
The fella didn't look happy but as you say they ruined it for themselves.
