ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

No. Evra is paid to give opinions and is justified in knocking down the rs but one disaster should not be played off against another. The people who made the 40000 deaths now and take no responsibility are the same who blamed the hillsborough deaths on the innocent. Dont be confused. Your enemy are the government in both cases.

Thanks for your suggestion but I'll apportion out blame how I see it thanks. I won't be at all confused though. Appreciate your help on how to think, that was worrying me for a while there.

For some reason I was sent by email a James Pearce piece in the Athletic (not reproduced here, btw, just the gist of it and the pathetic punchline) regarding why Liverpool's title win is "the best" in the PL history:

The numbers speak for themselves, he says.

18 successive victories, equalling the longest winning streak in English top-flight history.

24 consecutive home wins as they dropped just two points at Anfield all season.

61 points out of the first 63 on offer in a season
.

So, no Invincibles, no Centurions, but the best PL team of all time because...well...erm...'consecutive wins' and...erm...because he says so.

....and then he finishes on...

"On second thoughts, give them an asterisk if you want"

Ha Ha Ha. We will.

Absolutely rattled.

Arsenals 'Golden Premier league Trophy' strongly disagrees with these cherry picked stats - me thinks

Clutching at straws. The whole thing is such an anti-climax and damp squib. Glorious.

As you say, the '18 succesive wins' was over 2 seasons. This season and LAST season. So they had a 3 month break inbetween!
City's 18 wins were on the bounce. So they didn't equal the record at all.
It's amazing the lengths that some these guys will go to. It really is.

The slew of documentary type "tribute" programmes and "specials" that will follow in the coming weeks and months will be worse than anything in the aftermath of the covid cup presentation.

All sorts amongst the great and the good of society will be falling over themselves to contribute their odes publically, with the level of fawning and exaggeration surpassed each time.

This is going to be portrayed as the peoples victory, the triumph of the working class against all the odds.

Goebbels has got nothing on the levels of propaganda and indoctrination that these can reach.

This season's losses for Liverpool = 3...bettered by obvioulsy Arsenal with zero losses, Chelsea in 2004/05 with 1 loss; Man City in 2017/18 with 2 losses; equalled by Leicester in 2015/16; and twice by United in 1998/99 and 1999/00 with 3 losses.

...and on course to be the 3rd highest points total in the PL.

All of this equals the best PL team ever.
