ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Possibly the greatest ever reaction imaginable this.

I'm not arsed but it we was plodding around bottle half the table the fume wouldn't be half as bad, they'd just be like oh it's Everton what do you expect, but we are above them and they just can't deal with it.

Self important pompous get...

...just take your injury and STFU.
I agree with him about one thing though, everything happens for a reason. In this case, the reason being he was trying to put the boot into our players right from the start. Karma finally took note.

They drew the game but I worry they might win the narrative. As ever they relentlssly write the headlines afterwards and the media plaster it everywhere.

WTF were motd doing last night, you'd thing Virgil thingy had been shanked on the pitch.

OK they have a player out but no other team gets this coverage.

As for the fans, this is the flipside of all the bullcrap we have to endure in the city, murals, scruffy rs flags instead of curtains, flags in backyards (still), Mo Salah cutouts in shop windows, even the frigging Levis shop in L1 still has a massive rs display ffs. They're like a horrible spoilt kid used to always getting their own way, everyone kissing their rear, the world revolving around their little cult world, no wonder they can't cope. Phoning a talkshow in tears, I ask you. No one's died, you whoppers.

They're worried about their team now. One player down and it's suddenly a crisis.

That's not how champions work.

They’ll be experiencing what we have suffered for so long with over multiple seasons.

When you best player goes down with an ACL, not only do you lose them on the pitch for a whole season, you have to spend money to buy a replacement that you haven’t budgeted for and stops you strengthening other areas. Your second choice player becomes first choice meaning if they pick up knocks you’re down to a third choice player starting in the team. What worse is that even if you get the player back fit in a decent timeframe they’re hardly ever the same and can relapse again or never get that mental edge back (e.g Jags came back at a good level but he never had that lightning pace again. Yakubu and Arteta lost a yard each, so has Coleman. Bolaise, Kone, Mangala, Oviedo were finished as premier league standard footballers) Gomes is still struggling to capture his best form now.

Its an utter nightmare and most seasons we’ve had multiple players struck down with these types of injuries whilst our rivals have gone injury free then laughed at how crap we are. ‘Everton’s midfield is a shambles’ easy to point and laugh when our first choice pairing of Gomes and Gbamin are both out long term. How good would some top 6 teams be if you’d taken their two best mifielders out for the majority of the season last year?

Leicester are struggling now they’ve lost Ndidi and Soyuncu. They can’t afford to lose the spine of their team but it gets zero coverage and the media just say ‘oh Leicester look poor’. They can’t replace these players.

Whereas Liverpool get one injury to a squad that’s already been absolutely stocked with players they’ve paid exorbitant fees for, and it’s like they’ve invented the long term injury.
Cracking post.

I’m sure they had street parties when Laporte did his ACL last season.

TAA took out Sane for the season last year with a deliberate foul - not a single word ever mentioned.
I wouldn't mind but he's not actually anywhere near as he is made out to be (see graph)
Christ on a bike. City won the league and got a 100 points with Fabian Delph at left back
and John Stones and Otamendi at the two CB's!

I honestly think part of the reason for the level of angst amongst the media is they now miss out on the collective circle jerk every time vd plays, and the clicks that come with headlines about the best cb to ever play. He won't be that, he is 50 50 to come back the same player, aged 30/31 having only really had two years at the top.

He loses the chance to be put in the same bracket as the likes of Terry, vidic, kompany, Ferdinand etc who did it year after year.

Best wishes to him for recovery BTW, but if you want to be the daddy be careful what you wish for as there is always a bigger daddy around the corner in all walks of life.

In a weird way this might have saved his mythical legacy. He was absolutely all over the shop this season and in truth had been the back end of last season as well. He was often caught out in european away games too and was exposed by Atletico at Anfield. It was starting to show more regularly in the premier league as well as opposition players stopped missing open goals and gilt edged chances and and started realising that when the ball is in the danger area VVD was never anywhere near it and it was always Gomez or Lovren who had to take the blame .

The REAL world class defenders are always where the danger is. You don’t see Real Madrid conceding multiple goals without Ramos in the footage of any of them. You didnt see Cannavaro lambasting his defence from 30 yards up the pitch as he’s been caught out of position. He is a very good defender who is great on the ball and has got height and pace. But I’m sorry, he has never ever been positionally world class and is never in the conversation for greatest centreback in the premier league let alone of all time. Vincent Kompany for one was absolutely miles better than him and that’s only going back a couple of years. Do you think he’d have kept a high line and let City be pumped 7-2 by a bottom half team? Would Terry, would Tony Adams, would Vidic? No.
