ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Always remember being told that it was tradition for the incumbent manager on Merseyside to invite the new manager to a meal which is exactly what Houllier did when Moyes arrived. Hated him in football terms because he brought them a lot of success but as a man plenty of respect for him. Thoughts go out to his family.
Classy man I thought, highly regarded by the players and at 73 if makes you realise how quickly the years are going by.

RIP Gerard

Houllier was the only Liverpool manager I didn’t hate with every fibre of my being in my lifetime. RIP man.

Same here. Was no arrogance behind him which is probably why I don't think kopites now really hold him in high regard as a Rafael or Klopp.

They may have won the bigger name trophies...but he won them more than those two combined.

Correct. They like managers who project themselves in the same way as they do - as obnoxious gets.

Never understood the free pass Paisley and Shankly get either: the latter was a self regarding divvy who felt he needed to degrade Everton in order to get his yard dogs to our level; the former was a pensioner batterer.

Thats true and apparently Moyes offered the same invitation to Benitez, who declined. Just about sums him up.

Rip Gerard Houllier. Seemed a gentleman on and off the field.

The best compliment I can give the man - he was the most un-kopite-like kopite manager I can recall in the recent past.

None of the bitterness and gobshitery of shankley, the fsw or Herr Shipman, which is why that lot don't hold him in high regard.

Rest well Monsieur.

Let's not forget either some hounded him out of Liverpool - bullets in the post. An utter disgrace after what he did for them and losing his health in the process.

Obvioulsy the vast majority of Kopites weren't involved in that, but there's a lot who acted despicably toward a very decent man.
Doesn't it end up like that with all their managers? The classic being their neglect of Bill Shankly after all he'd done for them, we adopted Bill and he used to get a great reception from blues as ha attended most of our games in the late 70s as he was barred from Analfield.

They are ruthless...apart from "King" Kenny and Paisley.

Yeah but it was he who started the cult and entitlement attitude of the rs. Couldn't stand him
