ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Barca and Real don't have that money at the moment do they? Also the rs were only just furloughing their staff and losing a reported 9 million a week during lockdown. I don't think that they could afford a Mbappe.

Also if the 2 Spanish superclass had the cash, they'd be better off going for Mbappe themselves. So don't worry about it.

The idiots who pushed the Mbappe stuff said theyd sign him last 2 summers. I pointed out not a chance (and unsurprisingly) was proven correct.

Look we are going into a massively volatile financial situation. This years accounts will be horrendous, next years even worse.

I don't think they are getting huge money for any of their players. They tried with Mane and nobody bit. Madrid said they might be 60-70m a 18 months back, when he was 27 before Covid hit.

I'd be really surprised, give the state of Madrid and Barcas finances if they are going to be funding 100m signings of 29 year olds. It could get messy, and I hope it does. If I was a betting man, I'd say Salah has been told he will have to kick up a fuss to leave if he wants too (which it appears he might) and the comments can be put down to that.

He is their main saleable asset. Wijnaldum will walk out on a free. Maybe they get 100m for Salah, but I'm doubtful. As for Mbappe, I doubt they are at the front of that cue, and given they dont do bidding wars they will find an alternative.

Any team with 100 million to spend would buy Mbappe and not Salah.

Agree with all of it. re M'Bappe - I think it highly unlikely, but to apply your barca / real finances logic to Salah, presumably they wont have the money for M'Bappe either. It is probably on the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea who can afford him. I do wonder would a Salah / M'Bappe swap be a solution allround. The values would be relatively aligned given one year on a contract.

I dont think Mbappe will go to Madrid or Barca either though, which is the key difference.

As for 1 year, there will still be lots of interest. So him with 1 year us worth far more than Salah with 2. That also assumes he doesnt resigned a deal (Mbappe) which he may. They can likely pay him what he wants. You also have the issue of whether Salah wants to go to Paris, particularly in light of the political situation that exists in France currently.

I think a deal could be agreed whereby Mbappe went for more (similar to Jota).

I'll be frank though, I just dont see it. If Mbappe goes, it will be to a club who have far higher backing from their owners. Could see City or Chelsea making a big play. United still have a lot more cash than Liverpool too.

As for Salah, something feels very off about this. I wouldnt be at all surprised if Liverpool want to move him on as the most saleable asset. He has as a certain marquee premium to him that Mane and Firmino dont. Let's be honest here, VVD & Gomez could both be finished, or potentially greatly inhibited following such injuries. Wijanldums going o a free. Keita is rubbish.

Arnold is the other one who they could get a good profit on.

I think Liverpool are quite keen to move him on, but Salah may have started to consider it. He want to play for a massive club if he gets the chance, as Suarez, Coutinho, Alonso etc all did before him.

I also wonder, if with 2.5 years left, any talk on a new deal, and the value of it have become difficult.

If they want to command a big fee (anything even approaching 100m) it has to be this summer. If not Salah will just wind down and know he holds all the cards.

The issue is going to be, how much cash are Madrid and Barca going to have?

When Senor Walsh is offered the choice between Mbappe or Salah for 100m his answer is always the same....Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Some interesting comments from an ex-international team mate (covering the real Madrid match for bein sports now)....

"I know that Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons why he is not happy but they are secrets and I cannot talk about it in public.”

His mate doesn't exactly sound like Johnny Tightlips, just blabbering all over international television about his secrets.

Very interesting. Do we know if the guy was a teammate and close with Salah, or just an attention seeker.

My feelings would be:
1) Liverpool want/need to sell
2) Salah is probably open to a move with a bigger wage/sign on fee
3) Madrid/Barca have made clear he needs to rock the boat to get the price down (especially after the Coutinho debacle where they will likely pay 100m for him).

I mean we could add lots of details on each point. I would just say though, I can see a lot of clubs getting caught out by this pandemic. If you dont have an owner willing/able to bail you out, you will need to find other ways to generate liquidity.

Jordan Henderson has tonight announced that he will resign his chairmanship of the Players Together Movement - a body put together in order to raise cash for the NHS. The Liverpool captain commented: "Well that was a complete waste of 'kin time wasn't it?"

Maybe next year Hendo.
Anyone know how much that NHS charity actually raised?
