ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Hi Mike,

I’ve said here a good few times that I think the top few will pull away as soon as all PL teams are playing the same amount of games per week.

In terms of Liverpool away form, my point is they will drop less points when they aren’t playing teams who have had the week off, between now and the end of Feb, which this season is almost half the fixtures (16 weeks I think )

In fairness, this early prediction made a few weeks back has pretty much backfired already.

All sides have been, and will almost certainly continue to be inconsistent. They are not getting 95+ points this season. The question is, how will their decline be, relative to other sides be. I suspect they will be the msot consistent of the inconsistent teams. The cavaetto all will be, how many more injuries will pile up, and how knackered are players going to be come March when European football kicks in. You can also add in, when (as seems almost inevitable) fans are not allowed back in, will it have an impact at Anfield?

I know for a lot of them, they think they are getting all these players back who will kick on once back. I don't see that for anyone. It's going to be very hard for players, who haven't had a pre-season, to just magically get the fitness levels back. It's a risk for us with Digne, we sre seeing it with Gbamin too and to a degree James. A 2 week injury is likely going to be 5 or 6 in reality. How's Thiago going to fair when he's had 3+ months out.

So lots of variables. They are the big favourites, but it's far from in the bag. City if they spend in January could get close, and United if they discard the EL will have a big advantage. I suspect the CL this season with everything that is going on (potentially tests, isolation when abroad etc) is going to be a big headache.

Lots of variables, and a fascinating season.

Looking across social media today I've been most amused to see the amount of RS fans openly saying they want a Man Utd win tonight. They were saying the same when we played the Mancs in the league not too long ago and they ended up dining out on our defeat that day. I thought it was us who are meant to be the 'Manc lovers'?

Come next month, they'll be squealing like stuck pigs yet again when they play United and Blues all want them to get beat. The Manc lovers tag will be wheeled out again.

Yet more hypocrisy from their 'fans'.

Well no, not quite.

This prediction only became relevant two fixtures ago, with the mid round fixtures last week, so it’s far to early call. Liverpool have won two, as have united and city have 4 from 6. Chelsea & spurs have both struggled but against other teams in the European spots, so challenging to judge.

Agree on everything else, fascinating season, loads of unknowns, but by Feb I fully expect a few to have pulled clear. I certainly did not expect united to be one of them though ‍♂️♂️
