ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Dunno mate, I can’t say I agree. They are playing abysmally and still grinding results out. Once they get back out of first gear it’ll be a procession (IMO, of course). Bare in mind they’ve been playing absolute crabs at the center half for the last 3 months as well. Obviously I’d love for them to implode and lose the next 22 games but just can’t see it.
I dont see where first gear comes from. Who gets them to that? And they;re not grinding wins out. The last two games underlined that. How many points are they down on last season at this point? A fair few I'd imagine...and the first half of the season is when they blew everyone away.

Take no notice of the BS written about them. They are a very ordinary team. One of the front three has a good game and gets them out of trouble a lot of the time; but that's not happening as many times as it did in the previous two seasons.

If they win the title this season they'll sneak it. And IMO there's no dynasty taking shape, they have no great kids coming in and the best players are all in the 30+ bracket. They're going backwards and will continue to do so. Just a matter of whether a team like City or United can seize the initiative this season to stop their run right now.

Fixed that for you. We might as well get an asterisk to break our silverware duck before we win a league proper.

I dont fancy Klopp in any title race that gets tight. He'd be a nightmare manager under those circumstances, transmitting panic and paranoia.
Didnt he take city to the last day winning nearly every game for the last few months??

would you class that as bottling it, 98 points or something?

They had a 10 point lead and lost it that season.

So yeah, I would class that as bottling it.

They bottled the Goodison derby too. We were our usual passive selves in the fixture, but they had the title in their grasp and went out with a whimper.

As the song goes: "You lost the league at Goodison Park...."

Klopp oversaw that collapse.

Ita odd that for ages they kept buying these young centrebacks and raving how how good they were. Sepp Van der someone was the new Van Dijk, Hoever had ten minutes in a pre season game that blew them all away once, Billy whoever was the next Koulibaly.

Yet when push came to shove, one of them finds himself playing right back for Wolves as a make weight in the Jota deal, the other two can’t get near the squad, all the time whilst their defence consists of a midfielder and two older centrebacks who look like complete cart horses.

I hope Matip doesn’t make it for the United game as Rashford and Martial could really do some damage running those centrebacks into the channels.
Personally, I think United are the team to fear for the RS. If OGS had the balls to put Henderson in goal they’d concede less, and they’re looking lethal up top, slotting from everywhere.

Lost to a City team without De Bruyne in the big crunch game that season. Drew at United, drew at Goodison, somehow managed to draw at West Ham. Once they fell behind City they played with freedom then and became the self titled mentality monsters but they’d already thrown it away. I’m convinced if they ever got ahead of City that season they would have dropped the ball again.

The season after was a procession as the premier league had decided by the time of the Anfield Liverpool City game that they didn’t want a title race (as Liverpool would lose it) so presided over the most rigged game I think I’ve ever seen to give Liverpool an unassailable lead. City just gave up that point. Every single team knew the league was done from the first few rounds that year.

That's spot on. They found their feet again only after blowing it, that's how it remained so tight.

It was only a Pickford howler that gave them the points against us, they got lucky against Palace, Burnley, Fulham, and Spurs. If we'd been a bit braver at GP we would of got the win, I don't understand why Digne took the free kick in the 89th minute if Siggy has whipped it in it could of gone anywhere. Also Mbappe gave them a win at Anfield, Milik missed a sitter at Anfield, they guy who scored against them for Red Star worked in his dads shop part time. Barca had numerous chances at Anfield and Dembele missed a sitter at the Nou Camp. They are the devils club, just very lucky really.

Lawros predictions again contain so much [Poor language removed].
I get that the guest is a red so fair enough for his section but all Lawrenson mentions is them.
My favourite bit is where he says half the team is out.
Alisson
TAa
Raterson
Fabinho
Henderson
Milner
Salah
Mane
Firmino
That's 9 regulars who played.
