ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Ita odd that for ages they kept buying these young centrebacks and raving how how good they were. Sepp Van der someone was the new Van Dijk, Hoever had ten minutes in a pre season game that blew them all away once, Billy whoever was the next Koulibaly.

Yet when push came to shove, one of them finds himself playing right back for Wolves as a make weight in the Jota deal, the other two can’t get near the squad, all the time whilst their defence consists of a midfielder and two older centrebacks who look like complete cart horses.

I hope Matip doesn’t make it for the United game as Rashford and Martial could really do some damage running those centrebacks into the channels.
I'll tell you what happened: that pathetic Everton cup performance against their younger players gave the world the impression Liverpool had Barcelona B to dip into. The LC ass-kicking/exit that those same players experienced against Villa prior to that was their true worth.

All this talk of Jones, Williams, Elliott etc. They're bang average at best. The type you punt out to the Championship.

It was the usual surrender at Anfield, but context is often missed. Firstly they had 5 ot 6 first teamers playing and more off the bench. We were also exhausted playing our 5th game in about 10 days, where they were fresh. On reflection Carlo should have reted them up against City the game before, and is his only real mistake in his tenure here.

We ought to have been 5-0 at home time. Awful finishing cost us. Had we have been, their heads would have dropped and it would have been a double figures job.

We then ran out of steam 2nd half. It turned into a scrappy game and they scored a luck pot shot.

To be honest it was similar to the sort of derbies we won in the 90's. I can understand why they enjoyed it, but nobody seriously proclaimed those Everton players as title challengers.

Hoever has been really poor for Wolves this season as well. That Phillips who they herald as a youngster is about 25 who played last night, and he is also very poor.

That performance was awful, but it added to the hype that those youngsters have. They seemingly sit on the bench as a supposed option for their first team, get long contracts and make a run out for England u21/23s giving the impression they're the next big thing.

It inflates the price tag for 'ambitous' teams with £10-20m to spend.

The spin that victory received was outrageous. The Kopite media were/are desperate to project that there's a Liverpool dynasty in the making. There is no Busby Babes there, no Quality Street Kids, no Class of 92. Just a clutch of bang average younger players who'll struggle to get a PL career going.

I thought the said in commentary the other the day that the United game was Hoever's first start? I thought he looked pretty good against united. I'd guess he would be starting for Liverpool had they not sold

Hardly played, for apoor Wolves side, and when he has he's been poor. I thought he was also poor against United, I did check back his stats on whoscored which seems to back that up.

I'll be honest, I don't think he's starting for them.

Newcastle performance last night was turgid the defence was clever enough to not tackle in the box and sit deep prepare for long balls, they are bang average when they cant outrun teams, imagine a league when the player of the year cant create a chance against 2 relegation sides.

Not kicking Mane or Salah for no reason in the penalty area is actually a really effective way of not losing to Liverpool. It’s so simple but so many teams can’t seem to master it.

it was dreadful. Liverpool cut them open 5 or 6 times. No idea what happened to Liverpool yesterday, but their touch and finishing, with the exception of the Darlow save on Salah.

Could be "just one of those days" for me it looks like they are feeling the pressure of the blip, which is now multiple blips

Since the end of November they've drawn with Brighton, Fulham, West Brom and Newcastle...

"Those days" are coming pretty frequently.

If someone punctures that home record early in the new year they're going to have an uphill battle to win the title, because this lot dont travel well.

And they look like a team that'll do well against the elite teams but cant raise their game for the middling-to-lower placed teams...which was where they were before Klopp's third season.
