I said it continually last season Liverpool aren't actually that good, when you compare them to the great Arsenal, United, Chelsea and City sides of the past. Henry was miles better than Mane is now, Rooney and Aguero were far better than Firmino, Viera, Essien, Toure and Scholes were far better than Henderson. VAR helped them out last season, plus teams just let them walk all over them. What's bizarre about Liverpool's success is with the exception of [Poor language removed] Van Dyke, they pretty much have a similar team to when he came in, it seems their form came out of nowhere.

English football is in a slump. A kick and run outfit like Liverpool winning the title. Liverpool's most dangerous moments tonight came from set pieces too.

I've seen two young Liverpool CBs in successive games - Phillips and Williams - and they look hopeless. There's nothing there beyond a core of 13/14 players.

He’s talked about as one of the greatest midfield players of all time. He wasn’t even the best in that England team, and it’s arguable whether Alonso wasn’t better than him in that Liverpool team. When he was at his peak he would win a match singlehandedly but then disappear in the next game which is one of the reasons why he didn’t win a league.

He was obviously a very very good player but some people pundits put him in their greatest 11s of all time. That for me is overrating him.

You can’t say gerrard was overrated. That’s mad.

Ita odd that for ages they kept buying these young centrebacks and raving how how good they were. Sepp Van der someone was the new Van Dijk, Hoever had ten minutes in a pre season game that blew them all away once, Billy whoever was the next Koulibaly.

Yet when push came to shove, one of them finds himself playing right back for Wolves as a make weight in the Jota deal, the other two can’t get near the squad, all the time whilst their defence consists of a midfielder and two older centrebacks who look like complete cart horses.

I hope Matip doesn’t make it for the United game as Rashford and Martial could really do some damage running those centrebacks into the channels.
