I found the TalkSport reaction to them not buying anyone rather interesting. When Spurs did the same last year, saying they had a young squad who were coming together, they were roundly derided by just about everyone on the station, led by that goon Adrian Durham, for just waving other teams past them in the prem, and deserving all they get.
This year? It was all 'well, you can understand Klopp. They came so close last year, lost one game etc'. About the only dissenting voice was one of the presenters saying that he was perhaps just a little bit surprised that they hadn't made one 'marquee signing', to try to make sure they overhaul city. Certainly no mention of anyone, god forbid, challenging them for second.
Have you noticed the entire narrative has been which of the two teams finish on top? It's as if the other 18 are just there to make up the fixed odds coupon. Now, I may be wrong without looking it up, but over the last decade or so I don't remember the same two teams running away with it two seasons on the trot. One of the others ALWAYS come back into it.
