ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

They just can’t stand it when all eyes aren’t on them. They’ve been as irrelevant as us this season and that’s the worst thing that could happen for them. Hope City win the treble and boil their scabby little heads.

They’re just a putrid fanbase.

From list of “European Royalty” I posted yesterday, they’re arguing that Man Utd don’t deserve to be on the list

The same Man Utd who won and appeared in a European Cup 9 years before they did.

They genuinely are the most jealous of them all. Whilst I hate City winning everything, their reasoning is because they’re using “tainted” money and blaming UEFA for not acting sooner.

They’ll point the finger at anyone and everyone who will listen, it’s truly bizarre.

I actually think they are much much worse than previously as well.

I don't know if it's the lockdown, or whether it's the fact they've had some success and got a bit giddy but they seem worse than ever currently. I remember they would be snarky when they went 10 years without a trophy but for the most part they used to celebrate Manchester City winning things as it was stopping Manchester United.

They are absolutely fewming now. It's really easy to wind them up, you just say City played well and they are on you. It seems worse than they were with even Mancheter United.

In general my rule is I never want an English side to win anything in Europe. But I am slightly torn, as it would be hilarious getting to see Manchester City win the CL and league in the same season and see the heads fall off.

This is the Manchester United in my time watching football who have won the league like 12 or 13 times, against a Liverpool who have won it once, with a 4 month gap and no fans in the ground. They're in absolutely no position to have a pop at anyone elses record at all.

United have had their worst period in decades, and Liverpool have had teir best period in decades, and United will still probably win more trophies than them. That must kill them really.

I know we haven't won anything, but we all know the last 20 years and particularly the last 5 have been an unmitigated disaster. If I felt our best team in 30 odd years had won less than United's worse, I'd be a bit reticient about dictating whether they were or were not European royalty.

Asking for a fan veto on all boardroom decisions.

I suppose if you dont ask, you dont get.

Not going to happen, though. FSG will offer what Abramovich is offering Chelsea: fan advisors to the board.

The whole thing is preposterous and tokenism.

Fans should have control of their clubs along the lines of the German model. However, asking for boardroom slots is just being co-opted by the beast.

SOS are easy to read: they are empire builders and are looking long term to secure a paid bureaucracy of a few salaried officials. Plain as a pikestaff for me. This is NOT the way you deal with billionaire owners.

I saw their statement, and I try not to slaughter other supporters and their orgs, and I'm sure there are a lot of decent people involved at a rank and file level, but I found their demands a bit odd and a bit random. And for the most part, not random in a positive "transitional demand" sort of random either.

There doesn't seem to be any mention of selling up, or even any mention of 50+1. While you can probably get away with the former, it's hard to take seriously any talk without putting the latter. That really does seem to be the slogan/idea that has gripped all football fans and is one that crosses the divide. The idea that fans can actually run football clubs, like they do in Germany. I don't have any idea why that wasn't part of their requests. Forget everything else, that should be number 1. It's simple, it's practical, it's understandable and it links to the wider protest/struggle.

They seem to have this abstract idea that you can have 2 people on a board and they can veto anything. Not only is this idea unworkable but it will strengthen FSG's hand, as understandably they will say you can't have 2 people having the power to halt a business. What happens if the 2 people disgaree by the way?

The other demand they had was something that has already been conceded by Arsenal's board. I mean they'll try and claim it as a big victory, but this should already be won. If you have 4 demands, don't waste one of them with something that has already essentially been implied.

As a final aside, they already have Kenny Dalglish on the board. What do they think one of their reps is going to do that Dalglish already can't? I'm sure FSG will reference this point.

I sense FSG will call their bluff. Give them a couple of crumbs, concede on point 4 which is a demand that should have already been achieved, and essentially say to them-if you don't like it, you organise to get us out then. SOS are already showing a lot of weakness before they've even gone into battle, refusing to adopt the slogan that they want the owners to leave.

This is akin to Lenin going to the Tsar in 1917 and politely asking him if he could have a workers representative in the Duma. In insurrectionary times, if you behave like that you end up in the dustbins of history.

Can't wait for van dijk to come back and be gash with only one leg. They'll turn on him so quickly while simultaneously telling everyone it's Pickford's fault.

What will happen, is he will come in and be amazing, however he plays, they will say he is amazing. It will then slowly dawn on them he isn't the player he was, and there will be huge arguments, with those who tell the truth being labelled heretics. Thats how this plays out.

They are now slowly starting to realise Keita is not the best midfielder in the world.

And look at the names in that Man U team and compare with the poxy nonentities who won it with the RS.

Definitely, it's absolutely hilarious.

They seem to do this a lot. They pick really odd enemies to be rubbish. So Dias is now terrible, and everyone has to make that argument. And anyone who's not saying it in the media is part of some weird, cult conspiracy. It is how cults behave as well, they tell their followers to have to defend the most ridiculous things in order to slowly break them. This Dias thing is just the latest of them.

Clearly, he is an exceptional defender. The defensive numbers are astounding with him in the team.

I don't really understand it. I criticise a lot of their players, but I can also see that Salah is a bona fide world class attacker. Alisson is a world class goalkeeper. Wijnaldum has been an excellent and very consistent midfielder. Van Dijk before his injury was a world class defender. It's not hard to do.

The thing is, City aren't even a rival of Liverpool. It would be like me looking at Liolen Messi and getting really angry and trying to make out he's not very good. I'm sure they had a spell where they tried that with Ronaldo as well. Who in their right mind looks at world class footballers, and tries to make the argument they are rubbish? If you don't like a team much, why don't you just say theyre rubbish players are rubbish? Like I do with Keita and spoilt posh boy Chamberlain.
