ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I'm not really a fan mate and I'm not sure it can ever be that safe.

But I also think there's a lot of nostalgia for what football was pre 1990 and there was a lot of bad and good. A lot of days standing on a half empty terrace with very little atmosphere.
I've been in safe standing areas in Germany and its fine. Issue previously was the corruption at the turnstiles and clubs squeezing in as many fans as they could. Computerised tickets stop all that.

Watched the Netherlands game last night. The studio pundits and the commentators kept going on about Van Dijk missing the tournament. It was incessant.
Does anyone know why he’s not playing?

Was dropped by the RS after the hammering by Villa early in the season.

I noted that Jermaine Jenas when listing legendary Dutch strikers went with Van Dijk not Van Basten. Easy mistake to make I suppose. Practically the same fella.

In fairness mate, the FSF have come out in favour of "safe" standing. To me it's a bit of an oxymoron so it will never be for me. Personally after what happened at Hillsborough I wouldn't want to go back to the standing route. Those days people pine for are long gone, and in honesty were never as great as people thought anyway.
In Australia, you can still stand at games. Given the choice (aka not taking the children), I always go into the standing area. It is just better.

I totally agree. For me, there's still a massive misconception that safe standing is akin to the old terraces, when in reality the only comparison is you stand.

Depending on the stadium you go to, you can either have an allocated section to stand behind a rail seat or put into a specific block with strict measures.

If it ever came to England, it would the former where you'd stand at your seat - a specific position with a rail; if it was a European game, you'd sit at your seat.

Even the latter, which wouldn't happen here, it's not an open terrace: there are specific blocks that you enter in a controlled way through multiple checks.

For me, there is no real reason why we can't or shouldn't have it here in the UK if it's imposed correctly. Ticket prices are cheaper at the atmosphere is great.

In terms of safety, I feel as safe if not safer depending on the model.

Interesting that he doesn't mention what he said to moyes after the game.
It shouldn't have been a red for Hibbo, it should have been a yellow for Gerard for the dive. But I don't hold a grudge, it's been and gone now. He is well dodgy though lollollol
