I can’t stand the RS and I’m delighted that arrogant Klippoty and his arrogant players like Alexander-Arnold lost. However, I also can’t condone women, children and the elderly being doused in pepper spray. Why the French police corralled thousands of peaceable ticket holders into a tiny area and detained them for hours is inexplicable and inexcusable. The likes of the Sun and the London media are using this as a stick with which to beat our city and I won’t support that.

I think taking into account lfc supporters previous form for misbehavior, then the french authorities were understandably on red alert.

I'm not necessarily saying they were in the right, but lfc supporters have proven time and again unfortunately, that they just aren't capable of behaving themselves.

The police started acting up when thousands were bunking in or using fake tickets.

It might be a shame that innocent fans were caught up in the crossfire, but they’re all one LFC family, aren’t they?

If this was the case, wouldn’t it be the same for Madrid fans? Train strikes and poorly blocked off roads ? Yet Madrid fans arrived without a fuss and were inside without a problem.

Another says those climbing the fences were scared and were escaping a crush ? No, then why are they legging it, dodging security to not get caught, to get up the stairs as fast as possible and into the game? Any mention of the word crush will justify that behaviour, that’s why it was used.

This. So these rats actually had genuine tickets but feared for their lives. Thus they reluctantly scurried over security fencing into the stadium.

Then, they were so traumatised that they ran away from stewards instead of taking out their genuine tickets and showing them to the stewards.

Also, if I know I'm trying to get in on a dodgy ticket, I am getting there early. Gives me time to try different gates etc. Also, argue my case with stewards etc.

It is very plausible that a high number of fake tickets early on caused all of this.

I can understand the backlash against the heavy handedness of the police but not sure how it is Uefas fault. Choose a stadium that hasn't had trouble before and hosted a World Cup final.

I do feel very sorry for fans who brought tickets, arrived in good faith and behaved.

Can't have been pleasant being on the receiving end of the French police's crowd control measures. But that just it up. Ask yourself why the police acted like they did? Well, they're confronted with a potential crush / riot / disaster. They've no idea who is a legitimate ticket holder or not. Hence the indiscriminate approach.

There’s no evidence to support this claim. Also, how can a few hundred fake tickets cause people to be detained for up to four hours?

There are pictures showing the Liverpool end over crowded and all the gangways full.
