ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I text my brother just before kick off to ask if he got in ok and he said he had been in for over 2 hours like.
Like they were told to do - again, according to the information available - and it seems many turned up at 6-7pm. Which is 3-2 hours before KO time?

That's surely enough time to reasonably expect to be able to get in.

And UEFA initially said it was down to late fans but then they changed their tune and said it was down to the tickets.

Think it was Oliver Kay who said he arrived at 6-6:30 and said the crowd had already formed by then... 3 hours before KO...

I feel like there is a ton of circular reasoning going on in this thread. Personally i find it a bit weird how there is constantly trouble at grounds when Liverpool is involved. UEFA declared them the worst fans in Europe. It shouldn't be shocking that they might have played a large part in the trouble that occurred. Can also acknowledge that kids and elderly getting pepper sprayed is bang out of order.

UEFA build fan parks in each city to encourage people to go and watch the games who don't have tickets... it's for people before the match and during it, which is why they keep the big screens up.

Liverpool should have - in conjunction with UEFA - arranged transport to and from the fan parks. It could have been chaperoned public transport or chartered coaches etc. Something could have been done.

It wouldn't have stopped them handing over responsibility to the stadium organisers/police/UEFA when they got there but would have at least meant fans were in with the club and in one place relatively safe, or kept back until space had been created.

This isn’t true regarding encouraging people to watch the match in the fan parks. As of Saturday afternoon they still hadn’t decided whether they were showing it there.

and it was still packed around Wembley
apologies, took that post as being 'in the ground'.

I've not been to Wembley. I've not yet been for work, done a lot of other grounds, so I don't know 100%, but am I not right in thinking there is a) quite a bit of stuff to do in and around Wembley - or was at Euro 2020 anyway? Fan park etc?

Because, as far as I'm aware, there's nothing around the Stade de France resembling that...

You're fighting a losing battle here tho mate.

For me Wotsit teeth dropped a clanger by telling them all to travel, but other than that I dont think the Liverpool fans did a lot wrong.

Just like the Everton fans didnt in Lille, those French Police are dealing with riots daily, they only have 1 stance, tear gas and batons.

No one died this time, thank god.

But they ultimately did show it didn't they? As there's reports of people staying in the fan park to watch the game?

Again, I've gone off my experience covering Euro 2016 (partly in France) when they had fan parks held by UEFA and they showed the games...

There’s a bit to do around Wembley yes. But it’s not exciting dead exciting . Crap chain restaurants and snide pubs

Was the fake tickets and bunking sound then ?

the problem with these arguments everyone just takes the collective as the entire group.

So the argument goes

“Liverpool fans bunked in vs Liverpool fans are angels”

What’s actually happened is a set have acted up and the entire rest of them have felt the repercussions of it.

So yes, innocent fans were treated badly. Because of the actions of a minority
