ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I’ve Just realised, there was an international match held in the war zone/lawless area that is the stadt de France and Saint Denis on Friday between France and Denmark that passed off without any problems or incidents With 75833 fans in attendance.

What was the difference in circumstances that ensured nothing like the cl final happened last week - what changed.
This should be publicised widely as it seems to have been ignored by the kopite grovelling UK media.
This and a reminder that hundreds of major events have taken place in that stadium with no trouble.
Then ask why the only major crowd trouble came with a visit of LFC.

me, me. i know. i know- no scallies from Breck rd went.
I was thinking more about the police and authorities handling of the situation, as from the eyewitness reports, the gangs of local French Algerian/Somalian muggers and robbers were a massive problem with the situation the fans faced and also for a lot of the forced entry into the stadium without tickets - why weren’t these great bunch of lads a problem on Friday night?

We’re they all just too busy celebrating the 70th jubilee to cause the same chaos so took the night off on Friday and left the Dane’s and French national team supporters alone?

Having looked at what you said though, you may have a point oddbod, thanks.

Exactly mate, but we know it won’t be.

How can numerous massive events be held at the stadium throughout the year and after the cl have zero reports of any trouble/muggings/robberies by the local French Somalian/algerian gangs (as far as I can recall) but it’s like the Thunderdome from mad max for the cl final!?!

Whilst I am annoyed at the media agenda and the lack of self-awareness shown by the gobshites, we can't deny the evidence of local gangs targeting innocent supporters - they have a genuine grievance in that regard. Also, you can't really compare the international match with a visit from English fans, especially Liverpool supporters. Their reputation precedes them and they should have expected zero tolerance from the French police. If they were to accept that some of their fans played a part in the problems at the stadium they might get a more sympathetic response from the rest of us.

UEFA might have backed down, but the French Government will not. They'll want an inquiry even more, particularly now that UEFA have dropped one from a great height on them.

Nobody is saying there wasn't issues, but that's on UEFA. It was in their interest to try to quell the criticism and they did so with their mealy "apology"

Potentially many lives could have been lost had the police not taken swift and decisive action to ensure there were no fatalities, against the backdrop of a fan group that are known to cause trouble and disruption. That is the heart of the issue.

I’m done with this fella as my mp, and probably labour now - it’s no wonder disgraces like Johnson can stay on in power and get away with murder when the direct opposition is characterised by this biased clown.
Any Labour voter in Liverpool should be looking to vote in council elections for the ex-LP councilors now opposing the Labour Group on the council: Joanne Calvert (Old Swan), Alison Clarke (Knotty Ash), Alan Gibbons (Warbreck), Rona Heron (Old Swan) and Alfie Hincks (Everton) Sam Gorst (Cressington), Sarah Morton (Clubmoor) and Anna Rothery (Princes Park).

I'd urge all Merseyside voters who traditionally vote Labour at national elections to look to their Green Party or any other candidate on the left opposing the official right wing Starmer Party candidate in their constituency.

I rate Bowen highly but he's not the same quality as Mane was in his peak.

Mane seems to be going off the boil so it probably favours RS to get rid now and replace him.

Assuming Salah doesn't renew his contract this is Liverpools final year of dominance under Klopp imo - a front 3 of Diaz, Jota and Bowen whilst pacey and dangerous isn't going to win you league titles or champions leagues imo.

Lets hope Mane leaves for a reduced price this summer and Salah leaves on a free end of this coming season.

i saw footage of a lad being sprayed right in the face from about a foot away, he barely noticed it. i posted earlier about decidedly dodgy scenes at that match but i couldnt link it. its called `Champions League` posted by Gareth Roblyn on 29may. youtube.
If that's the footage I think it is, look at the guy behind him causing trouble, the spray was aimed at him then the copper took a sneaky one to the lads face , its probably the funniest thing I've seen in ages, the lad is absolutely delighted hes got in then the copper steps in " no you dont pal have some pepper in your boat race. Hilarious.

I hope they get Bowen to replace Mane.

Yep. He’d be decent for them but would cost a huge fee and have zero resale (e.g Barca or Madrid are not going to ever give them a huge fee for Bowen). I’m hoping Klopp goes for a signing like this or another prem winger rather than finding a Suarez type somewhere else

I disagree. Jota's lively enough but he's picking up the crumbs off the table left by Salah and Mane.

As for Elliott: he blows hot and cold...and his hot moments aren't all that either. I'm afraid I dont see Elliott as top class...not even potentially. He'll be like Gilmour at Chelsea: looked like he could break through then found his real level.

Apologies I thought you were talking about Dias. I agree on Jota. Elliot is a little limited physically in terms of pace and power but has great technique and vision for such a young player. I can see the comparison with Gilmour but he is playing in an area of the pitch we you need someone who is strong and hairy arsed like a Barry or Carsley

this is the thing with the modern age of trial by short video clip, you don't get the whole story and if there is an inquiry or criminal prosecution to follow the buzzes cant put their side of the story so we only hear one side, usual a bleating heart story of woe and wrongdoing.
