ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

'This Is Anfield' again...this time explaining Liverpool's performance cycles...

"It is a bit like how you have sleep cycles of 45 minutes, and every three-quarters of an hour you reach a point of shallower sleep, where you are vaguely alert to the noises of the night, before drifting into deeper sleep once againor alternatively, you find yourself awake at 4am and have no idea why."

I see that the LFC coach Thomas Gronnemark has launched a strong attack on Arsene Wenger's previous proposal to replace throw-ins with kick-ins which has gained impetus for a trial.
He reckons " it would be the biggest mistake in football" and "would ruin the game for everyone" and "be taking a beautiful thing away".

Especially for poor ole Thomas of course, given his own particular specialism of.. er.. "throw - in coach".

I actually think banning throw-ins is utter bollocks and shouldn't be done

Wenger has had sand in his bum about throw-ins for years ever since Delap utterly destroyed his Arsenal side with long throws. Ever since then he's been trying to get kick-ins introduced instead

Used to love a good Delap throw

Just read this forum, it's not just Sky TV. It's lost on most that City have totally screwed up the financials with their work arounds and that's half the reason transfer fees and wages are through the roof. Part of the reason Everton have wasted so much money is there is no such thing as a bargain nowadays. I would love to know at what rate transfer fees and wages have gone up since City were taken over. I bet there has never been a rise like it previously.

They cant let go of the quadruple idea...they think if they say it enough times that it actually happened.

It's 'kin hilarious.

The plazzy double winners living in their own fantasy world constructed for them by their media enablers.

In fairness to them, once the new season starts they can once again claim they are ‘closing in’ on an unprecedented quadruple.

I mean so can 3 other teams as well, but making claims about things that are unlikely to happen as though they are absolute certainties is their speciality.

"the longest quadruple hunt by an English club, only ending on May 22"

As far as I'm concerned that's the quadruple. It's just a minor detail that they lost both major legs of the quadruple - because it happened in the final week of the season.

It absolutely kills them that they didn’t do it. They knew it meant a lifetime of bragging and in their heads they’d already banked it. Their disappointment in the aftermath isn’t the natural disappointment of losing a CL final or being edged out of the league. It’s an absolute fury and anger that a card they thought they’d be able to play for ever isn’t available to them any more, in fact it remains open for any other team to claim ahead of them going forward. They’ve bigged it up so much, imagine if City or Chelsea pull it off in the near future. It absolutely kills them they didn’t make it happen.

The riot they started was turned into gold by them: it allowed them cover to retreat a few inches from their failed season - THAT is the truth of the matter too. There'd have been no talk of tear gas and riot police if they'd won that final. None. It'd have all been about a glorious treble.

There may well be better teams and bigger clubs in football than Liverpool, but no one is at the races with them when it comes to deflection and turning blame into praise.
