ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Liverpool’s assistant Pep Lijnders is releasing a tell-all book on Liverpool’s quadruple chasing campaign that saw the Reds challenge on all fronts last season.
The book is called ‘Intensity, Inside Liverpool’.

When are they finally going to accept they got the plazzy double?

But it was the closest anyone has ever come to winning 4 trophies in a single season….that’s if you discount all the teams that have won three trophies in a season… then it’s definitely the nearest.

Indeed. Utd may have won 3 pots in 1999, but did they contest them ALL to the last? No, they could only do the 5th round of the League Cup. That's not properly contesting a quadruple. Frauds, pathetic.

They were also closer to a quadruple than all the other European teams who play in leagues that don’t have two domestic trophies. Can’t argue with that. Immortals.

Didnt put that Times sports journo going after Lance Armstrong, for years, off.
Exactly, and a very good analogy.

Breaking that story was tough. People didn't want to hear that their heroes are drugs cheats.

I have absolutely no doubt that it's happening in places like the EPL. And it's a matter of time before a good journo exposes it. But that will be a brutal fight due to the financial implications.

Sorry mate, only just seen this post.

Yeah, defo. But he was operating in a different culture in cycling where journalists had a tradition of upsetting the aple cart.

The PL is an incestuous affair where journalists who cover it know they'll be on a hiding to nothing trying to ask serious questions about training and medical regimes. Football in this country gets the hacks it deserves. They're all passive or actively promoting football clubs.
