ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Yea undoubtedly a better position, but are they smashing up the top 4 on a regular basis? No they had a couple of seasons finishing fifth behind probably the worst run Sky six team in United. United were able to just drop 60 mill on Fernandes to get them out of trouble one season.

Leicester did everything right and still couldn’t get in amongst those big boys on a consistent basis. Perhaps Newcastle will break the trend, or perhaps they’ll fade away in the second half of the season, who knows, but if it was as simple as just having a decent manager and spending money wisely then a lot of mid table teams would have broken into the CL. They don’t though, because the top teams will take the best managers and the best players and pay them exorbitant wages, and if they do mess up they have no restraints to just throw 100s of millions at the problem until it disappears. Teams in mid table might get one chunk of money and then spend five years kicking their wounds if they don’t make top 4 with it.

What you'll see in the coming seasons is a drop in interest imo.

Its only really been us and Leicester who have spent big money in recent seasons and Leicester have had some success in that period so for many clubs they still have delusions of being able to compete long term.

Give it 2-3 seasons and West Ham, Villa and Brighton will realise what we know. Palaces chairman has alluded to the unfairness - throw in a cost of living crisis and increases in season ticket pricing and Sky/BT subscriptions I think you'll see many fans turning away.

The only way to compete now is essentially for a Gulf State to buy you, dope you up with sponsers from their national owned companies and avoid the rules the league/UEFA have put in place.

What a farce.

It’s what the fans want though, best league in the world apparently.

The irony is if the RS got their beloved super league they’d essentially be the Everton of the super league, mid table mediocrity

Gakpo signing almost guarantees Firmino is going and Jota/Diaz injuries are worse than they are letting on.

Don’t think this signing will work out quite the way they think.

Farmers league
Rememmber how good kezman was there for example

Dirk Kuyt was prolific there - came to England and was a total plodder.

Depay was crap for man utd aswell
Stop kidding yourselves bois. He'll be a very good signing for them and somehow they've got him for less than we paid for Sigurdsson.

This is a misconception that’s somehow gained traction. The Super League doesn’t replace the PL…it would replace the CL.
No misconception on my part. What I want is for them to leave the league and play Madrid and co every week.

To have their closed group and remain in the Prem would really be rubbing everyone else's noses in it.

Merry Xmas folks, the in-laws have gone home now, we just watched The Chase Xmas special and it was the fourth episode in the past few days on I have watched on various channels, with every episode having one football question where every answer has been Liverpool F.C.
The national obsession continues.
Question about the Shankly Gates on the Weakest Link and a mention of Alan Hansen's autobiography on Only Connect.
