ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

So long as they defeat any teams in the relegation mix that they are scheduled to play, I couldn't care where they finish or how many other games they win

They’re more likely to beat the teams we need them to beat if they’re not beating City Chelsea and Arsenal. They’re not going to lose and draw every game between now and the end of the season nor do they look like winning every game, so if there is a split then by the law of average every time they don’t win a game against one of our rivals it makes it more likely that those become the games when they have to put on a show for their fans to arrest a slump. Win win.

If Arsenal can avoid defeat against this lot it will start to look difficult for top 4. Would be a massive psychological blow if Newcastle and United can both win tonight and put the gap at 10 with same number of games played.
I think it's already looking extremely unlikely that they will get top four. But assuming it goes to 10 points, there's no way they'll claw that back with 10 games left to play. Let's say they pick up a bit and get 21 points from their last 10 games - it's then asking United and Newcastle to only get 10 points from their last 10 games, ie relegation form, and hope Brighton and Spurs tank. And, as I say, that's assuming the RS pick up in form.
