ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Wow!

One guy actually said missing out on Bellingham was worth it.

"Assuming we get Caicedo over the line, the three midfield signings we’ve made are as good a set of players in one window as we would ever likely get. If going for Bellingham would’ve meant missing out on at least two of these, I’d take how it’s worked out now in a heartbeat. The midfielders gone don’t really compare in terms of technical ability, energy and more importantly how they fit with what Klopp wants his midfield to be. Even Hendo and Fab were square pegs in round holes in the box system. Assuming these stay fit and adapt quickly, along with the attacking options we have, this could be some side. I’ve been critical of FSG since the dallying over Lavia, but hold my hands up as completely wrong if they’ve just gone and bought one of the top 3 DM’s in Europe."
I wonder how long this claim will last?

At the the of the day £115m for Caicedo is about £40m above his actual value. It's an insane price. It's the kind of money you'd expect the second coming of Messi to command, not a guy who has been in the league a year and been good but not absolutely outstanding.

They're paying more than what Bellingham cost!

Unfortunately I think Liverpool will come out of this better, as they'll get Lavia for £50m and one or two other quality players in for the money left over from what they would have spent on Caicedo.

While it's nice to see them get jibbed at the alter, they'll just get Lavia in within about 3 days and they'll finish easily top four this season.

they won’t finish top4

IF you need cheering up, this is a great thread.

You can watch live as they slowly realise its not happening.

From "Woah, woah, woah, We've got the best midfield in the world (again)".

To "Lol Caicedo rejected us, we are a laughing stock with the way we handled this transfer market."

Welcome to our world RS.

OK, can somebody please explain what a 'box system'. Is it basically a diamond that has been turned 90 degrees?

It looks like Chelsea might have torpedoed Liverpool's deal for the player, certainly looks like it is sailing away into the distance. Something something destroyed.

Will they? Southampton now know what type of funds the RS have at their disposal and willing to use, so you’d expect them to play hardball.

The fee would never reach anywhere near that level, but an extra £5m or £10m would be quite realistic, if not more. Plus, Lavia obviously isn’t first choice.

Will he now want or demand additional means to seal the deal (e.g. higher wages?), so even if they do get him you’d think the deal won’t be as sweet.

They’ve gone one way and shown their cards, which potentially could be their undoing.
