Sounds like something written from North Korea.
Working in the area of Cybersecurity, I'd have thought said IT boss would likely have been fired for incompetence. Its Class 101 stuff to remove the accounts of staff who leave, and/or change the passwords of any shared accounts once anyone who has access to said account leaves, especially for anything hosted in the cloud.
Doesn't justify the RS actions in any way, that they paid hush money (and possibly more) to City to make it go away shows they knew they'd been caught with their pants down. That it didn't reflect greatly on City either is probably why they accepted it without making more of an issue of it. Would have been interesting to see the forensic evidence though of what that account had accessed exactly after the people involved had moved and what player signings resulted (or didn't result) from it.
