ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

The truth, but expect to be called out for this.

Traditionally games were populated exclusively by working class men and boys, kick off on Saturdays at 3-00pm, after the pubs had been open from 12-00 noon.

This is now seen as 'an embarrassing' and 'inconvenient' past in some quarters.

I think the embarrassing aspect is people talking about hooliganism like it was this fun thing that people just did at the time, as opposed to a massive issue that a bunch of weapons partook in which ruined it for everyone else

I think passion and aggression got mixed up. I grew up watching us home and away in the 70s and 80s. I saw some things that a kid definitely shouldn't see, but I also loved the passion and energy that the crowd had. Both of these have pretty much gone now and football is basically like going to a gig or the theatre these days.

I don't think he'll get much pushback

They'll be mortified that they angered the dear leader and will prostrate themselves at the altar of Klopp for offending him so

I can already picture the keyboard warriors raging "You idiots at the ground angered the Mighty Klopp and shamed us all!!!!!!"
It's a really weird obsession the fans have with him. He's a cult leader.
His comments included
"On Saturday (against Arsenal), we need Anfield to be on its toes from the first second. Without waiting for me to have an argument with the opposition coach or whatever"

So, either the fans really are there just to watch Klopp's theatrics, or he's an absolute egomaniac for this to even enter his head?
The smart money is on both

Shipman finally realising that the Anfield atmosphere has been ruined by the increasing numbers of day trippers. That was part of the reason my late dad gave up going to games 15 odd years ago
It doesn’t get much worse then a manager calling his own clubs fans crap.
Mid week, micky mouse cup, West Ham - not much incentive for your average Olso or Surrey day tripper
