It's happened in the firm I work for tradesman have been put on the 80% and most of the big earners have stayed.They are just trying to keep unemployment down, it would probably cost more in the long run.Big businesses will exploit it.

The point of it in general is that companies are less likely to lay off staff if the option of furloughing and the Government picking up 80% is there. There are a lot of companies where the total wage bill of those on less than £2500 a month is the biggest outgoing and if that company has no money coming in then they're going under.

I think it's a bit difficult to rush through legislation covering all these aspects and a straight across the board ruling would see many companies just laying off staff - many by financial need, some opportunistically.

Given the unusual wage structure in football clubs and many other sports this ruling may need to be approached moralistically.....The RS have massively failed this moral test.

A very admirable thing that they ensured was splashed all over every media channel possible. This shows their true nature, self promotion and self protectionism first and foremost always for the cult.

I could tell you first hand what Gerrard used to do for certain places when he was a player for them that got no publicity whatsoever as he just did it. ( i know this dosent fit our agenda ) Our own Seamus did and probably still does the same.

This is an utter embarrassment for that club, have no doubt. Probably why Carragher has even piped up.
