ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

This scheme was brought in by the government with two things in mind. One was to help businesses to stay afloat through this massive downturn and
the other was to help their workers to keep their jobs.

I suppose that LFC would have had to sack those of their workers who are going to get 80% of their wages paid by taxpayers had it not been available
to them, or face going into administration. What other reason could there be?

They're massive gobshites.

Saw an interesting prospective punishment put forth by someone yesterday who said that all clubs doing it should receive an immediate one-window transfer ban.

Can’t claim millions off the tax payer for furloughed staff and then lash £30m on a new centre-mid or whatever. Made sense.

There are more and more big corporates doing this now, Virgin and Wetherspoons to name but two getting the most flak, and it’s clearly not what the government intended the scheme to be used for - to ease cashflow for big business.

They need to urgently rethink the qualifying criteria as there’s no way a unequivocally profitable business should require it. It would leave all of them with very red faces and having to do an embarrassing retraction.
Re, Virgin.
Virgin Australia - shareholders; various investment arms of chinese govt, Emirates Airlines (minted). Singapore airlines, 10% Branson ( minted)
Debts au$ 3 billion
Cash au$ 1 billion
Want a au$ 1.4 billion bail out and the Furlough deal for 1000s of employees

Thing is their (now depressed) share value is only au$750M. It would be cheaper to buy them out, furlough the employees which the Govt will probably do anyway, then re-sell he shares back into the market over a couple of years.

But the cheek of them...and they won't the only ones

Too true, but when have the RS ever truly embraced decency, and sense of right and wrong?

My accountant seems to think between 40/60% of small and medium businesses will go under before Christmas due to the pandemic - how many of these businesses would that money LFC, THFC and the others are leaching save?

The 2 most hateful teams in the league, well before this pandemic. Vermin the lot of them.

This is actually perfect for them and all PED users. I’m guessing testing is paused so they can go on a major cycle and then come off it when it’s looking like the prem is returning. It’s all cycles in that game

Which probably accounts for how one minute they’re running over Atletico Madrid like they’re a kids team and the next minute Watford are completely dominating them with ease. Funny how Coutinho has gone from being one of the worlds best to unable to get a kick for Barcelona or Bayern also. If Liverpool had sold Milner 3 seasons ago he’d be retired by now, Henderson would probably be I’m the lower end of the prem or the championship. They’ve doped for ages, no way a side that poor on paper improves at the rate they have to do things that the best teams in history have got nowhere near. They almost won every game this season FFS despite not even having a proper striker upfront and two very average English midfielders in their team who were both shown up as not good enough on the international level as far back as 2012 and 2014.
