ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

From a value perspective it is though. Every year after 25 I suspect in real terms value starts to stagnate and decline. The market are not paying massive fees for 30 year olds anymore. In all honesty, they made a mistake not to sell one in the summer. By all accounts Madrid were willing to get to around 65m for Mane. They should have tried to push it close to 100 and run. They'd have still won the league. I wonder if they have held onto players a bit too long.

As for the ageing squad, it's the 6th oldest squad in the league this season. I think they are a year behind where City are. Probably 3 behind Spurs. They've held the team together but they are all ageing at a similar time. Henderson, Wijlnaldum, Van Dijk, Matip, the front 3 are all heading to 30 at the same time. The lads coming in behind Chamberlain, Keita, Minamino, Origi have been really underwhelming.

I think they look to go to the well and sell someone (probably Mane) but they may not get as much as they even thought they might get last year. Nobody is going close to £150m for any of their players. If that was part of the plan (ah la Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez) to help with the wage bill, the cuts will have to go deeper.

I don’t believe there’s any scenario where Liverpool can fail. Let’s face it, they were up against the wall in 2009 in a court room basically seconds from administration before a good will stitch up saved them. 4 years later they were challenging for the title again. The key difference with a Leeds or a Nottingham Forest is that Liverpool are one of only two clubs in the country that literally has every single entity wanting them to be successful. Top politicians want it, football governing bodies want it, the media exist on it, the legal system looked favourably on them. They’re never going to go under or somehow get in a mess, they did that and a court basically ruled they could be sold at a quarter of their real value and all their debts would be wiped clean. They’re never going to go under. If they hadn’t of been so terribly crap for most of the last 30 years they’d be winning the league almost all the time because they have every advantage in their favour. It’s actually amazing incompetence from them that they haven’t won it yet given every ref, media outlet, governing body, and even some opposition players have done their utmost to make it happen for them.

The British Establishment's club.

I've been saying it for years.

In short....

Clearly this snake oil merchant Moore didnt "engage in a productive fashion" with this clique of Kopites (Anderson apart) prior to last week. You dont have to be RS to know morally that their original decision was an absolute shameless disgrace.. to working tax payers and a slap in the face to their own loyal low paid ancillary staff. You just have to have a social and moral compass. Draining the same fetid waterhole as Ashley etc says it all about the club.
