ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Correct me if I am wrong,I'm sure at the time that game went ahead our training ground was shut as was the Offices at the Liver Buildings and Goodison and the derby set for our place the following Monday had already been called off,but they still went ahead with the European game?
I think we officially called it off and shut down everywhere on the Friday.. just after their game. I see on looking back that the RS would not reimburse 290 of the Athletico fans who were refusing to travel. Really worried werent they...

Perhaps I'm being slightly sceptical here, but I do wonder how much losing the game has played in their fans decision to request an enquiry into the game.

Would they have been so concerned and upset if they'd progressed through to the next round thus having another cup in their sights?

All in all, the ground was pretty much full on the night, so their fans made the conscious decisions (knowing the risk) to attend the game to support them.

I'm sure if thy won the round they would be very keen to have the CL finished this season too for the integrity of the competition, to uplift everyone in Europe (especially if everyones second favourite team won it) and so that they can win a magical double to save the world

With the exception of John Ashton, I don't remember any Liverpool fan saying the game should be cancelled. I said it should have been cancelled and almost every Liverpool fan I encountered was essentially just abusive towards me for making such a suggestion. It's a bit sickening to see the same people, who either said nothing, or were derisory towards the game being called off not taking any responsibility.

"Offended by everything, ashamed of nothing".

If I was a Liverpool fan, I'd be embarrassed just how apt the saying is time and time again, but then being embarrassed or ashamed simply isn't in their nature.

Exactly this.
But they thought their '12th man' would get them through another famous night under the lights...
Playing the game behind closed doors would have taken this advantage away.
It was a famous night alright - but for all the wrong reasons as far as they are concerned!
If they would have won this game you would have heard very little about it and as you say they
would be pushing hard to finish the competition. They just cannot accept that they got beat by a smash & grab
win by Athletico on their own patch. They were convinced that they were going to win the tie and qualify for the next round.
It's like trying to say that all of the winners at the Cheltenham Festival should be looked into
because the crowd should not have been their either.

I'd recommend starting from about 8:30

Could of swore I seen interviews of klopp , ex rs and every rs fan bragging about a famous European night at Anfield before the athletico game, I've been informed that every last one of them didn't want that game to go ahead , klopp apparently pleaded with UEFA, operation white wash is well under way.
Be sure that UEFA will have correspondence with LFC over the staging of that game. I doubt they'll show anything other than LFC's commitment to get it played.

...and, btw, we all know that Klopp's only concern after that match was how Atletico never played "proper football". He became moral about the wisdom of playing it long after the event itself.

That's what didn't sit right with me, it was clear as day the game should be called off/behind closed doors but no one in Liverpool's camp pushed for it because it was all about a famous european night at Anfield with the crowd overturning a deficit. Low and behold they get knocked out and everyone changes their tune.

Oh aye, you got to think about "dee integreteee of the thing la"

The RS always have a 12th man, the referee.
